Update on F10 options
I received this info from my dealer today.
The 2011 535i and 550i will have new premium package options. "Premium Package I" will have the garage door opener, ambient lighting and auto dimming side and rear-view mirrors. "Premium Package II" will include everything from package I as well as the rear view camera, power rear sunshade with manual side shades, heated front seats, park distance control, Navigation (this is standard on the 550i), satellite radio, premium sound and the iPod adapter. Most of these options are available on their own as well in case you don't want everything. The camera package will not be available until September production. For now you will only be able to get the rear view camera. The camera package (when available) will include the side and top view cameras just like on the new 7 series. There will also be a new package called the Dynamic Handling package. This will include adaptive drive, dynamic damper control, active roll stabilization and driving dynamics control. This option allows you to choose between comfort, normal, sport and sport + driving modes. Both the 535i and 550i will come standard with 18" rims. The 535i will have style 271 and the 550i will have style 330. The sport package will add 19" rims to both models. The 535i sport package will have style 331 rims and the 550i sport package will have style 332 rims. The other available packages include the Active Ventilated Seat package, cold weather package (F&R heated seats, heated steering wheel, headlamp washers), convenience package (soft-close doors, power tailgate, comfort access), and driver assistance package (auto high beams, lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, parking assistance). Standalone options include items from the Premium Package II as well as, integral active steering, active cruise control, heads-up display, night vision, rear entertainment, sport transmission with paddles, split fold-down rear seat, smart phone integration. The M-sport package will most likely not be available this year. |

so the Dynamic Handling package will not be part of the sport package on the 535i as originally suggested? Means that the sport package will be priced aprox MSRP $2900 and not around $4500 and will only include wheels, shadowline. suspension, etc.
Do you have the final configuration guide available? |

On the order guide I received from my dealer for the 535i, the two packages were separate. Who knows, they may end up combining them at some point. It's odd that they are separated into two packages.

Just note that using this information, you can use the BMW UK configurator to configure a North American F10 exterior.
http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/index/0,,...-bmwuk,00.html 535i with style 237 wheels standard/style 331 w/sports package 550i with style 330 wheels standard/style 332 w/sports package I have to say that I really dislike the 19-inch wheel style options on both cars. I much prefer the 19-inch style 302M wheel option on the F01 750i. It's also really odd that BMW will not offer a 20-inch wheel option on the 550i F10 insofar as one is available on the 550i Gran Turismo. I predict a banner year for the aftermarket BMW wheel makers! I agree, the 332 wheels are butt ugly. For those of us leasing though it makes sense to keep with OEM wheels - I 2nd that they should make the 20's from the 550GT an option. Bad move on the 550i sport package and the 332's... |

Placed my 535i order at BMW in bayshore 2 weeks ago, which is owned by Habberstad. The dealers have zero information on the cars, and I had to pick my options off a grainy fax. Nevertheless, I have a production number, and now the long wait begins.
I chose Dark Graphite Metallic, I think the space grey is going to too light. I've got it with Black int, but I second guessing that decision after seeing the Cinnamon in the 550 GT pics. There is plenty of time to change that once the car is scheduled. |

So, what exactly can you change at a later date? I have been debating whether to order now or just wait until the dealers get more information (including pricing). Any idea how much sooner your delivery will be if you order now vs. waiting a couple of weeks?

My order is part of the dealers allotment, ordering now gives you the opportunity to pick one of the dealers first deliveries and customize it as you want. Most of the aesthetic options can be changed once the car is scheduled for build, which happens about 6 weeks before delivery. If you dont place an order you will just have to pick from dealer stock, or order a car later delaying the process further. Now if you walk into a dealer on 3/30 and they havent gotten a single order for the car yet, then it probably wont make a difference in the timing, however I went on 3/6 and was the third order at the dealer, so it gives me the impression the demand will be there, even more so after the mass media picks it up after the Javits Center Auto show. I didn't want to chance it, so i just gave them a deposit, and now I know there is nothing else I can do to get the car faster. I looked at audi, MB, and lexus, and Infiniti, there was nothing astonishing about any of them, so the 5 series is for me. |

The sport package does not include the anthracite headliner or the sport suspension. The sport suspension will be part of the Dynamic Handling package. |

Okay, you guys convinced me. I just put a deposit down on a 535i, Dark Graphite, black interior. He said his first allotment is 10 cars and I am first on the list. He said estimated delivery will be June, maybe May. I was going to do a lighter interior (and still may) but saw a 7 series on the floor in this combination that sure looked good. I am sure I will change my mind a few times before having to make a final decision.

Sport Package without sport suspension? Has someone confirmed this or is an assumption? Well have to see pricing on both sport package and Dynamic Handling, between Navigation and Dynamic Handling, the delta in price with the 550 is reduced.

From BMW US Web Site on the new 5 series:
Driving Dynamics Control. How would you like total comfort on longer journeys? Driving Dynamics Control, that comes with Adaptive Drive, part of the SPORT package, gives you the ability to meet every passenger's needs in the BMW 5 Series Sedan. According to BMW US, Adaptive Drive is part of the sport package, but on the draft of the configuration sheet I have, is not listed under sport package for the 535i and not listed as a stand alone option either. It is listed under the 550 sport package. So, what's the deal? |

So to summarize:
The Dynamic Handling Package (w/Adaptive Drive) is a separate package on the 535, so therefore the BMWUSA website must be referring ONLY to the 550i when it mentions Adaptive Drive as part of the Sports Package. Is this accurate? |
