Thanks guys, but there seems to be an element of confusion here.
Since posting the question I checked the instruction leaflet that was included in the BMW locking lug nut pack for my E92. It's a general leaflet catering for most models including 3 and 5 series and it's issued by BMW. It clearly states the following: 120+/-10 Nm for all versions in M12 140+/-10 Nm for all versions in M14 For reference 120 Nm = 88.5 Ft/Lbs, 140 Nm = 103 Ft/Lbs. Going by that, 90 Ft/Lbs doesn't reach the lower end of the tolerance band. I get a bit anal about things like torque settings and tyre pressures, so I'll call my local dealer in the morning and see what they come up with - I'll let you know. |

I torqued mine to 125 Nm, but I'm not completely happy so I'd be interested to hear what what your dealers say. |

I'll stir it a bit... don't forget the issues of dry vs. wet or dry film lube.
Just a thought, have the latest M14 bolts changed from the thread pitch of earlier applications. That could answer the value issue. HighlandPete |

I don't know what the thread pitch of earlier M14 bolts was, but these are finer than those on the E92 M12's, which would indeed account for the lower setting. I just wish BMW would include this in the handbook. |

He told me it's 140 Nm = 103 Ft/Lbs. Which is contradicting what I have heard at 3 other dealers. I emailed him back to double check. FYI this if for a 2011 535i Sport

OK so the service tech double checked and said 90 Ft/Lbs is the correct spec. I also contacted 2 independent tire shops, and they said the same, so that's what I'm going with.

Thanks for your help; until I hear anything else I'll stick with 125 Mn (92 Ft/Lb) and recheck regularly. I'd rather err on the side of under as opposed to over-torque.

Just as further reassurance, I took all the wheels off when set at factory spec with a breaker bar and they were very easy to remove. When put back on and set at 90, they are equally easy to remove. I set it to 103 ft/lbs just to check and they were much harder to remove versus when I first removed the wheels set from the factory. So I'm going with 90 ft/lbs. Hope this helps.

Bolt torque update.
I spoke with the senior technician at my local dealer, who has kindly sent me a print-off from their maintenance computer. F10/F11 M14 Bolt torque - 140Nm = 103 Lb/Ft. |
