Just Ordered... 2012 528i

So I guess the numbers just came out because the dealer let me order a 2012 528i today. Though they couldn't answer any of my 2012 questions.

The residual on the 528i with 15K miles a year is 54% / 57% with 12K so I think that is the same as the 11.

They couldn't confirm if xenon was standard.
They couldn't confirm if the extended black panel cluster is standard.
They couldn't confirm MPG

So that makes me kind of concerned. I guess I'll see the results when the factory confirms?

I ordered,

Mojave / Oyster/Black with Light Wood Trim
Sport, Premium, Luxury & Heated Seats, Technology, Sport Trans w/ Shift Paddles, Heads up Display, and Apps.

The plan is to pick it up in Munich last week of October (not confirmed yet). I didn't want HUD but it seemed like the only way to confirm I'd get that 6WA black planel. I also didn't really want sport but it was the only way to get the Anthracite headliner. Kind of an expensive option when it used to only be 500 stand alone. I also had to forgo the soft close door because its no longer offered in the 528.

The waiting starts now.

Black Panel is not standard. Only on 550i.

Xenon lights also. Only on 550i.

Based on previous knowledge and how those 2 options were so far.

The belief is that since the Xenon's disappeared from the options list for 2012, we think they're now standard. But I cant find anyone to confirm this.

Another strange one is that smart phone integration option is missing from 2012. So the belief is that if you want iPhone dock you need the BMW apps option. Can anyone confirm that? I don't understand why the dealer can't just call the factory and find out. I felt like they were totally clueless and I had to bring them everything.

You can always go with Adaptive Headlights to make sure you get Xenon too and headlight wash? Maybe the configurator is under maintenance or something.

The dealer confirmed they have an updated printout on the 528 listing xenon as a standard option for 2012

Mine is in the same stage as yours. Now we have to wait for it to get on a boat, then probably another 30 days before actual delivery.

My car is also waiting on a ship--WW Parsifal left this morning and I hope mine's on it! Through my research, BMW tends to use Wallenius Wilhelmsen out of Bremerhaven for vehicle transport to the U.S. Looks like WW ship Undine left for Port Hueneme, CA today with a few stops in-between. I hope everyone's car was on it.

That's great info X5er. Hope all our rides are safe and sound on board, and on their way home.

So do I, too bad BMW doesn't update their vehicle status on the weekends.

Unfortunately I know mine is not on the boat with yours. She is waiting for me at the Welt. I'm going to go visit her next week and then she'll be heading to the boat in two weeks.

I picked up the car in Munich this week and dropped it off today. All I have to remember her until mid January is a key with my name engraved, a silly red warning triangle, and a first aid kit that got soaked in beer. Yeah, I thought brining beer home in the suit case might not work. It didn't. I dropped her off with about 260km. I didn't do a whole lot of driving but it was still worth doing ED.

I did notice two issues though. I had a wrinkle in the leather on the driver seat when I picked it up. I'm not sure what they're going to do about that. And the heads up display would show a large white box or a bunch of digital distortion when using the GPS on some turn types. It seemed to only happen on freeway merges. I'll have to investigate that when I get the car back.

When I dropped it off this morning they did ask if I wanted to keep the plates. I guess they're are no guarantees but they make it seem like I would get them. We'll see.

Looks great! Now I wish I would have done the ED--mine's in the middle of the ocean right now.

Dude! That is awesome! Mine's on a boat right now...the agony!

Nice huge pic of the extended contents gauges - I've been wanting to see a close up for ever! Looks freakin' sweet!

Something that I didn't know was that they were going to give me a free key chain and do engraving. I could do up to 7 Letters. That ended up being perfect for what I wanted.

They also gave me 15 Euro for food at the restaurant but the BMW owners lounge had free food and drinks too so it wasn't really needed. Drinks included alcohol too but I didn't take that offer as I was driving after all. Still, their premium lounge was very nice. I ended up staying at the Welt from 8am - 4pm using their free WiFi to plan the rest of my trip in Germany. They kept coming around and offering me amazing desserts and coffee. The Welt experience was well beyond my expectations.

If you're picking up a car the museum is free. I'll post photos on a separate post. I also did the factory tour again but they didn't allow photos to be taken. The tour is good but its change a bit since I first saw it in 2005. It seems a lot more limited in where you can go now. Before you were right on the factory floor but now they have a raised platform you stand on above all the action. I guess they changed it so the tour doesn't get in the way. It you haven't been, its well worth it and free.

I need to stop coming to this board. I'm getting impatient now and its only been a week since I dropped it off. Maybe its a good thing that I have some time though. I was worried about it fitting into my garage. I measured it tonight and discovered I'm 7" too short. That's kind of a problem. I'm putting a new roof and garage door on next month anyways but now I think I need a full on extension. We'll see, I don't exactly have the room to add on but maybe that will give me something to do while I wait for this to be re-delivered.
