pilot super sports on 550 dinan s2

who has replaced just the rft michelins with pss? even just the rear tires on the sport 550? i want to put on 19 pilot super sports and keep the fronts rft just til they wear... i just hate the loss of traction with dinan s2 at take off and high rpms in 1,2.

Or should i get all 4, so handling and traction improves all around? Im 50/50 want to be cheap and get therears but then im thinking the full set would be fun....

I replaced all 4 with Michelin PSS and an quite pleased.

You will notice the following with the Michelin PSS
- Smoother ride
- Quieter on potholes
- Substantially more grip in dry - and especially so in the rain. In florida tempertures I can't chirp the tires even under full throttle with a 550i. In the rain the car seems almost as grippy as in dry.
- Much more stable over expansion joints
- Slight loss of response on turn-in (same for all non run flat tires but PSS is the best in this regard)
- Noisier on concrete (much noisier buy still quiet on tarmac)

If you do it replace all 4 otherwise you will get oversteer given the grip differences.

I will be going to 20 in. soon and cant decide between PSS or Kumhos. the Kumhos are $400 cheaper but thuink the PSS are better all around?

There is no comparison. The PSS is the BMW of tires, and the Kumho is the Hyundai.

Thanks. I'm thinking that and springs will work. Dinan or H & R super sport springs?

If you go to Tire Rack, and look at their test of the value-priced performance tires, and the test of the max performance tires, you will see the stats on this.

I did the comparison with 4 tires and PSS were on top,however I wasnt sure if they were $400 + difference??

I have 2 cars: a 2012 BMW 550i and a 2008 Lexus GS460. Both are on Michelin PSS. When the BMW first arrived on its stock Dunlops, the Lexus handled better than the BMW. Oh and BTW Those Dunlops are some of the best tires out there - they rate about the same as a PS2. I don't know if that helps, but my guess is that the Kumhos don't match the Dunlops.

you mean... understeer? more grippy rear....
