Hard-wired phone charger connection question

The phone mount shown in the picture has a hard-wired charging port at the bottom. The other end of the charger can be run under the car trim and connected to a power source for a clean look. The other option is a coiled cord with a cigarette lighter power plug.

Questions: what would be the power source for such an installation? Would it be an easy installation or a dealer-assisted one? Would this be violating the warranty?

This is quite an old question but I am planning to install something very similar and take power from the back of the cigarette lighter.

Has anybody done this?

I have on my Mercedes and will on the bimmer as soon as the kuda mount comes in. Wish I had pics but its simple. Get a blank lighter and connect it behind the console. When I do this I will make a how to with pics.
