Hi,

Even though my order is already in, I have been checking back at bmw.de from time to time, not only to confirm prices and whatnot, but also to read any new details on some of the new options, such as the new multifunction instrument display (6WB) or the new version of Professional Navigation (7SP with 609).

I found out that you cannot have 6WB and 7SP in the same car, at least in the configurator. You are only allowed to have Business Navigation (606)—the one with the smaller 6.5" screen and the sucky maps—if you opt in on the MFID. WTF?!?

I have a signed confirmation of my final specs which has 6WB in combination with Navi Pro (7SP/609) and the HUD, so this is very surprising to say the least. What do you guys think? Should I keep faith in this binding document? Is there any history of BMW changing car configurations/specs from what was written in the order confirmation documents?

On the Norwegian configurator, 6WB + 609 are no go too. But 6WB + 606 works, also with HUD.

I called the German Konfigurator hotline because it is too late to reach my dealer and the guy I spoke with had no clue. He recommended me to speak with my dealer next Monday.

Maybe Jason would be able to help here? Was there ever any mention of a purported incompatibility between 6WB and 609 in the official press releases or any other official documents?

I can't even think of a reason for this… In addition, the official July 2013 price list has no indication whatsoever about any option limitations if you choose 6WB.

I am quite sure the reason you cant select the multi func cluster with prof navi is that it is included, as it was pre MY13.

?? 6WA, the simpler MFD, was not standard with Navi Pro for MY2012, however it was a no cost option if you chose HUD.

I doubt it. All dependencies are clearly stated in the official July price list (file "5_TO_pricelist.pdf" in the link that I posted above) and that is not one of them. Nor is this supposed impossibility of having 6WB and 609.

Could it be that 6WB isn't expected to be available in series production until September? The brochure you linked says "Voraussichtlich verfügbar ab 09/2012" which in English means it's expected around/after September.

I can't recall a glitch on the BMW.de Configurator. The US version has lots of quirks.

Hmm… Could be, thanks for pointing that out (I had forgotten about that remark).
But then it shouldn't it be also unavailable with the "Navigation Business" (606) option?

According to the latest Swedish pricelist (from July 1) 6WB will be available with production start in Sep 2012. It does not say anything about Navi together with 6WB.

In the Swedish configurator you can not even choose 6WA or 6WB...

I wish I knew the answer for you. Maybe there's additional integration work required between 609/6WB that is delaying it until September? Or it could just be a glitch. Or both.

I just checked bmw.co.uk and there you can have 6WB together with 609.
So, why the hell would it not be possible in Germany?

No you can't. In the UK configurator selecting 6WB Multifunctional Instrument Panel deselects 609 Navigation System Professional Multimedia and throws out the 610 HUD and 6WA Full Black Display and takes you back to 606 Navigation System Business Multimedia (although I heard 6WB is compatible with the Professional Nav without HUD and Full Black Panel Dispay but the BMW website doesn't confirm this).

For a whle it did allow 609 and 6WB but that disappeared a few weeks back and the BMW Product Team confirmed it was unavailable in the UK.

Someone a while back said 609 and 6WB were available together in Germany but in the UK it was confirmed as a mistake in the Bulletins and website.

You have to love BMW. I've been checking through my iPad which runs the mobile configuration without flash. On the mobile version the original configuration when 6WB was first announced allowed selection of 6WB with HUD as an £255 option. What it didn't' tell you is that if you selected 6WB it automatically removed the HUD and the 609 Professional Multimedia, it just did it. But that was corrected some weeks ago. Just checked on my PC which i guess is what you are using and the bug is still there on the flash version so if you select the HUD and/or 609 Professional Multimedia then select 6WB it will automatically deselect HUD and 609 and vice versa. Just checked it and no matter what I do I can't get the 609 and 6WB selected together.

I've been around this numerous times with my dealer and in the UK he is adamant that you cannot have the 6WB and 609 and even checked it with the BMW F10 Product Managers who said no

So today I got my hands into an internal memo in Germany that confirms that the MFID (6WB) option is available in combination with 7SP/609 only from September onwards. This means that those who have the car built during July/August can only have it with 606 (Navigation Business).

My car is scheduled to go into production on week 36, first week of September, and now everything is falling into its right place: I should get the new NavPro system AND 6WB in combination with it.

Since MFID is not available in US market until LCI in MY 2014, so US spec F10s may get the new navigation system including July production. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
