2011, F10 520d M-sport with 20" BBS CH-R

My 2011 - F10 520d M-sport with BBS CH-R wheels from Baanvelgen
9X20 front and 10,5X20 rear with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/35 and 295/30 tires.

It feels like at new car compared to the std 18" runflats.

New pictures with DSLR

Not too muck practice with the Dslr yet, but hopefully there will be better pics when the summer wheels are on.

After polish and wax, 2 layers of Swissvax Blauweiss.

Great wheels, and I'd like to see it lowered.

Any more pics to see how flush the wheels are?

Did you notice the car get sluggish under acceleration because of the bigger wheels. I just put 19s on my 520d from 17s and it kinda feels it lost some of its low end torque. Wife says otherwise so maybe I am just imagining it

Thanks, not sure if or when i will be lowering it. Not long before the damn snow here in Norway Also we have one hell of a speedbump on a private road very short and very high cant do more than 3-4 km/h over it. Will try to take some more pictures where you can see how flush the wheels are maybe tomorrow or saturday.

The color is Carbon Black, atleast thats what it's called in Europe. I think it's only available with the M-sport exterior package.

Can't say that i've noticed this. Not sure how much the std 18" rims weigh, but the BBS CH-R weight is about 13-14 kg i think. The ride is much smoother now with the PSS tires than with the runflats. The car feels alot more stable on the road. Even the road markings made the care unstable when changing lanes with the runflats, also had a slight vibration when driving about 110-120 km/h (could feel it in the seatback) All this is gone with the new wheels and tires. Now the car feels and drives amazing.

EDIT: This is the weights for OEM 18" and BBS CH-R 20"

Style 350M
8x18 Front 245/45R18 ET 30 11,40 kg

9x18 Rear 275/40R18 ET 44 11,90 kg

BBS CH-R
9x20 Front 255/35R20 ET 29 12,6 kg

10,5 Rear 295/30R20 ET 35 13,21 kg

so 1,2 kg more in front and 1,3 kg more on the rear wheel. Not a whole lot more weight but of course there is the bigger tire too so maybe 2 kg more on each wheel.
But i think maybe its possible to notice it between 17" and 19". Could be more difference in weigt there than on my wheels.

http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/
On this page the weight differene between OEM 17" and OEM 351M 19" wheels is about 2,5 kg + tire about 0.5 kg = ca 3.0kg pr wheel. Don't think you are imagining it.

What is the best way to lower it? Only different springs or coilovers? Dont want to loose the EDC option. Dont want it "Blodsenka" in english "?"

If you want to keep the EDC, you need to drop it by just changing the springs.
But all the pics I've seen of such drops, it looks like a mild drop of 2-3cm. So I doubt it wil get you into trouble in snow or over speedbumps.

Coilovers will change the EDC dampers too, so that function won't work anymore.

I've seen your thread and your car looks great. Wish i had the same engine . Sadly it doubles the price of the car with the 535i here in Norway

The edge og the tires on front wheels are about 3-4 millimeters outside of the fenders and rear wheels 4-5millimeter outside when it stands level. Looks quite agressive. It will probably be absolutely flush with the fenders if the car is lowered about 2-3 cm like you suggested. Now the rims are flush.

Lads, can I clarify your terminology cos I want to drop my F10 535 and I think we might refer to things a little differently here in Oz. What you refer to as Dampers we might call Shock Absorbers (??) and what you call Coilovers we might call Springs (??). Is that right or are you referring to something else ? My 535 is Standard (i.e. not an M Sport), it's not an XDrive, and doesn't have Adaptive Drive (i.e. EDC or Comfort). From what I have read from this forum, the ACS (AC Schnitzer) might give me the best effect (drop without loss of ride quality) but I'm unsure if I need to do anything else and would appreciate your guidance .

Dampers = shock absorbers
Springs = springs

So by coilovers I mean a height adjustable lowering setup that consists of both springs and dampers.
Like this from KW.

Glad I got that sorted cos I was scratching my head there for a while and felt like a bit of a numbnut. Thanks remmiB.

Oh, and while we're on the subject, what setup do you recommend for my ride?

I've got KV V2 coilovers on my e90, and I'd get that, or the KV V3, for the a F10.
http://www.kw-suspensions.eu/int/kw_productrange.php

Here's a review thread of the KV V3
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=543121

But of course I don't know if this is for you, or if you'd by happy just getting some lowering springs.

Looks good! Definitely could use some lowering springs. That will not only give you a more aggressive stance but will drastically improve your handling and still allow use of EDC!

Nice setup. I am considering these as well.
Do you have Titanium version or are they silver?
