Hi All,
Having had 6 cyl BMW diesels for the past 3 years I'm a bit out of touch with what's normal for petrol engines.
I've just traded in my F10 535d for a 1 year old F12 640i with 1300 miles on it (yes, I know there's a 6 specific forum, but there's far many more members over here). Anyway, I've covered 1k miles and the oil level has dropped just under a quarter off the full mark, but the indicator is still showing green.
Can anyone tell me what the normal oil consumption is, at what level the indicator changes colour and whether it tells you how much oil to add?
I just knew I'd miss my diesel dipstick .

Some oil consumption common in the first few thousand miles, so a quart or liter consumed would be a non-event. I would think any oil consumption after that would be unusual.
