Fog light housing for 535 m-sport bumper
Hi guys,
I finally got mtech kit on my car, but the dealership quoted me $400 for the two foglights. Is the OEM fog light housing the only thing that will fit the Mtech bumper? Or are there any after market housings out there that won't result in an error? Thanks! Nick |

I thought the mtech kit should include fog lights, no?

They do, but the dealership I ordered from forgot to order the foglights and I didn't notice until after the install. When I called them back, they quoted $400.

The M550d grilles will fit and do away with the fog lights.
To avoid getting an error, you can just leave the fog light bulbs in the socket and tuck it away behind the bumper. |

The grilles you need should be these: 03 Grill, air intake, left M 1 51118057617 For vehicles with Auxiliary heating S536A=Yes 03 Grill, air intake, left M 1 51118055133 06 Grill, air intake, right M 1 51118055134 To understand the diagram you will have to compare the parts numbers with those for the std. M-sport front. Then you'll see that the three part numbers above are the ones that differ from the std. M-sport package. |

Yes, it confused me too...
But when I compared the part numbers for a 520i (which has the fog lights) and the M550d I found out that the part numbers above are different from the 520i. I don't think you should trust too much on the displayed parts in the picture/diagram. But I understand your concern as the M550d is not marketed in the US and you can't get a refund on them if the grilles are wrong... Aux heating is most likely only available on diesel cars (to pre heat or heat the engine quicker at low temperatures) Last edited by Boss330; 10-30-2012 at 06:40 AM.. |

I thought about going this route, but I actually like fog lights. Any reason why you don't want them other than personal preference?

I think the foglights are a distraction to the intake grilles. It's the first thing I see when I see an m-sport. I rarely gets foggy enough in Houston to need the lights, so I just assume do away with them.

I have a set of fog light assemblies which were removed from my old 2010 X6 35i. Not sure if they fit or could be made to fit but if so they're yours for much less than $400 your initial quote!

FYI, for anyone looking: aftermarket foggies do not fit on an OEM bumper. |

Hrrrm that's odd. So what do you do if you need replacement and want to buy aftermarket fogs and if it doesn't line up? Anyone confirm this? |

Just buy OEM and make enough noise to get them to drop the price significantly. Or if you have time, try ordering aftermarket and verify the fitment. I haven't actually verified that they don't fit. I was just told so by the supplier. In fact, two suppliers I talked to wouldn't even sell the foggies by themselves even though they had them listed separately from the bumper on their site.
