Cos they lumped TW with HKG/MAC & CHN. All cars sold in those 4 markets support chi. Remember both HKG & MAC are trad chi markets, so we get the same stuff as u.

BMW also dont make any simplified chinese character for Malaysian market car considered Malaysian is the biggest BMW market in SE Asia (More than 5k unit per year). and take into consideration that most buyers from Malaysia are Chinese speaking Malaysian.

On my 2013 550 with the new navi, It displays chinese characters when I load up songs on my USB stick.

Silver care to share how you did it?? this has been bugging me since i took delivery in april... i can't understand the thinking behind leaving the ability to display chinese characters out of the car... we are a very big market in north america... really doesn't make any sense... the car does about everything but read chinese!!! hahaha

Go to Properties > Details Tab of each song file to change the album, artist and song name into Chinese.

So I guess for 2013, they can read Chinese character? Can anyone with 13 F10 comment? Also, what version is your i-Drive?

Mine is Oct built 2013 F10.

Friend just got a 2013 535i and test it with both iPod and USB stick...both display traditional Chinese...perfect...anyone know can we update the interface for 2011 or 2012 model year F10?

To my knowledge, the 2013 F10 and some later build of 2012 F10 has the newer navigation system (HU_NBT module), while the earlier 2012 builts have the older navigation system (NU_CIC)... Me myself have the old CIC... Bad news is that the hardware between the two are physically different, and so to upgrade to NBT from CIC would require an extensive hardware retrofit and software update. And this would cost thousands of dollars
