Hi Alan, is this issue happening only with xi model? I have acs spirngs on my 2012 535 and have NOT had this issue and/or noticed any noise since getting them installed about 4 months ago? I'm just wondering if it's only on the xi model and if the springs are different on those models?

Not sure. I've seen non Xi members post they have the noise as well as 550 owners.

Could be the way our springs were installed or could be different manufacturing tolerances between spring to spring. Or it could be some of us are more sensitive to noise than others. My buddy couldn't hear it in my car but I could.

I wouldn't worry about it if your isn't making any noise.

Thank you very much indeed Alan. I am going to try this when I have some time. I'll use the 3/8" coil wrap, but I'll try to source some better quality wrap (for hydraulic hose retention, not wire retention).

Interestingly, I had the creaking sound on my MSport 535xi from the factory. Once I had the ACS Springs installed, the sound got way worse and was coming from all corners.

This creaking sound significantly erodes my enjoyment of the vehicle, and I'm very hopeful for a silent suspsension once I'm finished.

Just a shout out to Alan l. for this find. I finally got around to doing this a couple weeks back and it has completely eliminated the noise. I had grown used to the noise and didn't realize how quiet the car was until I did the fix.

Thanks Alan!

^^ any time

Glad this helped others. Seems like ACS is now including some sort of rubber insert on the top coils now after all the back and forth emails with them.

Good find Alan and very MacGyver like in resolving the issue.

With you stating eibach manufacturing ACS springs, would it be wise to purchase their springs from a price point of view if it provides the same drop?

Also I heard its hard to find dealers who sell ACS springs now because I think CWE or something like that lost their distribution license.

^^ hard to say. I'm sure neither ACS or Eibach will be willing to acknowledge if the springs are the same or not. One would hope that since the ACS springs cost double that they are made to ACS specifications from actual track testing and to to meet TUV certifications.

CTS-V's Eibach part "(UB0205-5) for a spring isolator"

Some people also used this instead - http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ntPage=search#

Not sure how well that works without seeing it in person. I might to check it out to see how thick/soft it is to be able to handle the task

Alan
I just got off the phone with Eibach and turns out the F10 uses the same UB0205-5. Summit Racing can order this for you at $39 each which is pricey but this is the most oem looking solution for people with spring noise. Not need to remove the springs to install this and comes with adhesive within the insert to hold it in place. I'll report back once i get them installed.

My $5 hose method is still working flawlessly but i wanted something that didn't stand out at the dealer when i bring it in for service.

Alan
Great job on research, Alan!

I ordered Eibach springs for my wife's 535i so I'm debating about taking a preemptive strike by already just ordered the sleeves from Summit. The last thing I want to hear is squeaking coming from her new car!

what's the different between this UB0205-5 and CS3001/3002/5001/5002?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/eib-cs3001/overview/
they all made by Eibach and one is $39 and the rest are $13 each?

Not sure. maybe give Eibach a call to find out. could be the coil size/diameter.

Honestly don't even bother unless your springs are already installed on the car. If the springs are off the car inserting a rubber hose found at any hardware store is a better solution. I found my Eibach solution half dangling off my spring after driving around a few weeks with them. I ended up needing to put two zip ties to lock them in place since the glue wasn't strong enough to keep them on.

i'm trying to insert rubber hose onto the spring, but it's driving me nuts, i've been fighting with them for 2 days with no success. 1/2" ID hoses are tight fit and I cant push them onto the second coil, 5/8" ID hoses are way too lose and it's making noise when I press it.

now i'm thinking about using some heat shrink tubing. but it's a bit pricy.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...dsamtunrepu-20
we can do a group buy on this one, it's 48" long and it's enough for 3 sets of springs.

Maybe try adding a little lube so it can slide in easier? That usually works for me

You can also try boiling the hose in hot water to make it more stretchable.

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone reading up on this and considering ACS springs.

Looks like ACS did indeed start including the springs with a rubber tubing inserted on the two front springs as standard. I just ordered another set of these great springs for my 550 and they came with the insert already.

Bump stops?

Good info on ACS springs!
BTW...When installing ACS springs, did you have the stock factory rubber bump stops 'shaved' (cut shorter)? I'm on the fence between the Dinan springs (includes shorter bump stops) and the ACS springs. I wonder, aside from the difference in drop (ACS 1" vs Dinan's 1/2"), if shorter bump stops are a better idea.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks
