New member, new 2013 CBM 535i - PIX

Forum newbie here...Well finally the SoCal rains are over until next week

so decided to take some pix of the new car to share with you folks.

I leased it for 2 yrs. My first BMW and I love this car. I am from the Lexus crowd and have had several GS's in the past. After buying our MB GL last yr, I wanted to taste the BMW as well and seems like it was a great choice.

I got the MSport w paddle shifts, Prem, Driver assist, NAV/SAT/Traff (Not tech) pkg in CBM with blk interior. Love the color.
I guess i do have some leeway when it comes to modding so I have considered a lip spoiler and 20"rims. Understanding the LCI next yr and the 4 series (M4 is drool worthy) I think i made a good choice of leasing to give me some buying power later. For now, loving this car.

I am at 500miles and have seen 2 issues:
1. When reversing th driver side side view mirror does NOT tilt down
2. When headlights in AUTO mode, there is amber light turns on in the front (next to headlight) and turns off after I drive around for a while. wtf? When i switch the lights to manual mode, the light turns off immediately. why?

Congrats

1) if you leave your mirror adjustment switch on the right side it will disable the tilt feature. Try toggling the switch to the other side and put the car in reverse.

2) Not sure which light you are referring to but if its the inner round light next to the grill then those turn on for a few seconds when you put the car into reverse and when you have the turn signals on.

I think the OP asked a out the driver's rear view mirror not pivoting down. Only the passenger's mirror pivots. That is the way BMW designed it to my knowledge. I agree that in most cases I wished they both moved. Other cars I've owned operated this way.

The amber lights turn on when you are turning/reversing. It's on my 550i GT too. It seems weird at first but you get used to it.

Posters in other bimmer forums are also agreeing that this the norm... I still find it very odd.

Only the passenger side mirror is supposed to move down when reversing. This is acting properly.

For the light that you are seeing, this is normal as well. Its called a cornering light and only works on Auto mode. It is not always on. When you corner, your low beam lights turn in the direction you are turning. Well this means they are not pointing straight anymore. So the cornering light illuminates to fill that void while the low beams turn in the direction you are turning. After you straighten the wheel this light stays on for a little then will fade away. You will notice this if you pull up behind a car after cornerning you will see only one light on. If the wheel is straight it will fade, or if you turn the wheel again. Completely normal, nothing wrong at all

The grill air invention door will be closed when the engine is just started and will be opened after the engine is warm enough! right?

But how about the rectangle air invention door that below the grill. I never it is opened!
Any brother know that when it is opened???
