2014-2016: LCI Grill shape did not change. The LCI got new headlights and a different bumper. They moved the side indicator to the mirror but decided to leave a chrome plate on the fender instead of pressing new fenders. A mix of interior changes as well.

Let me ask you, were the new ones easy to install or did you have to do some fiddling?

It was pretty easy to install. The toughest part was removing the stock grill which took about 3 minutes (literally). Once the car is warmed up, just pull the grill with some force and it pops it. Then just pop the LCI grill in. No tools required. Just your bare hands.

Can the black outer rings be removed and the chrome stock rings replace them or are they one single unit? This way they could be made into M5 grilles.

Here you go. The last 2 pics shows the OEM LCI grille on the M5. This way, you can compare the difference from OEM vs ebay replica. BTW, you can actually get the OEM grilles on ebay for $295, if you prefer OEM.

I too was in your shoes a few months ago...But the more I visit this thread, the more the LCI grill appealed to me. Eventually I gave in. I know you will too. lol.
On a serious note, it is a subtle difference but it gives the car a "fresh" look. If you already have the M performance black grill, it is not that big of a difference. It's really a matter of personal preference. |
