Upgraded my Combox... finally
Just a quick note here to let anyone who is on the fence about upgrading there combox, do it... I decided to pull the trigger for the Plug and play combox from BimmerTech for my 2011 535i. It was built in may 2010 so I had the old tulf/mulf system and all i could get was the bluetooth of my iphone for calls. The physical installation was pretty easy, I was able to email Patryk a couple of pics asking him if the cabling was correct... he point out a cable I had install incorrectly. Once I was ready I was given a link to contact BimmerTech technical support for the coding. An hour later I was was done and enjoying all my new options.
Bluetooth iphone BMW Office BMW Live Text messaging to my CIC with audio playback Bluetooth music from my iphone Ability to plug my apple iphone 5S cable in my armrest usb for playing movies, music, album art. Bottom line is BimmerTech provides a great product and even better customer service, I am glad I finally upgraded my combox. Next is a Bavsound stage 1 |

Sorry to bump this older thread, but I figured it's better than starting a new one with the same subject.
I'm looking to get a Combox installed as well (my car was also built 05/2010) I bought the car last week and it never even crossed my mind to check if a 2011 5 series would have bluetooth streaming available... I am looking at used units on Ebay and was wondering if I needed to pay attention to anything specific aside from the fact that they are made for the F10? Most of them do not come with wires. Will I need additional wires, or will the existing wires from the car be used? Any other modules aside from the Combox needed? From what I can tell, both of these part numbers are compatible with my car: 84109257150 84109257153 What makes things confusing is that vendors like ECS sell it for $279 brand new, while on ebay they go between $300-500 - making me think I'm looking for the wrong part. If I buy used on ebay, will I need any additional cables to connect to existing ones? Last edited by AmooManiak; 08-14-2016 at 06:33 PM.. |

Well, I'm slowly answering my own questions. Looks like this is what I need. Now the question is, how do I know if I need both? Can I look it up based on the options using the vin number?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I actually got it figured out and got it coded by Bimmertech. I am having issues with Album Art though. Is that supposed to work with the new Combox installed? I have a Note 7 (and it didn't work under S6 Edge+ either.) Tried bluetooth and USB connection to no avail. Is your Album Art working?
