I just got a promotional email from Samsung. $300 off an unlocked 512GB Note 9 still eligible for the trade-in discount. There's an old iPhone 5S kicking around our house that will get me another $325 off a Note 9. That puts it to $975.
Pixel 3 is $999 for 64GB (a little concerned there's no microSD slot) or $1129 for 128GB. The Pixel 3 XL is $1129 for 64GB or $1259 for 128GB. Note 9 is clearly better value. Cons are dealing with Samsung apps and no clear release date for Pie. Cons with the Pixel are storage and no Samsung Pay. I'm hoping to see a Pixel 3 in the store this weekend and if I like the smaller form factor I might just buy it anyway even thought the value proposition for the Note is better. Can't see buying the XL over the Note at these prices. |

That's not accurate at all. The Android users don't have enough tattoos.

I buy Android, because I have a great appreciation for open source software and I value the time of all members of the software community collaborating on all kinds of projects around the world and sharing awesome software, in many cases exceeding commercial software in terms of quality and robustness. And, yeah, I do software for a living.
