What does everyone think about me doing a gloss black vinyl wrap on the roof? I had an Alpine White E92 and painted the roof black and loved it. Not too sure about the F10 so vinyl would be reversible if I change my mind. I added a poll to the thread for the opinions.
Thanks in advance! |

I nearly went with a E Class sport in white and that comes with black roof as an option... looked good, my only reservation was does it look that good on such a big car??? bit chav? (says the guy with black alloys!)

I do like the panoramic sunroof on all the new MB cars though. but not enough to make me buy them (seems like such as a obvious option to me). if i could get a glass roof i would go for it. don't need a small one that I can open. would rather have glass all over with no option to open. |

Looks like it's 50/50 now with 8 opinions. It's going to be gloss vinyl and I can reverse it back if I decide I don't like it. Yes the MB looks great with the glass roof.

Don't think I'd do that to a big F10, the E92 is a different story.

Panorama roofs are not what they are all cracked up to be....unless you like driving in a greenhouse. They add a tremendous amour of heat in the car (in the summer) and cause the vehicle to take longer to heat up in the winter. Yes, the extra light in the interior is unbeatable, but coming out of a pan-roof in a Q7, I am delighted to be going back to a conventional sunroof (the 5 seems like a nice compromise since it is a bit larger than most).
Re the vinyl roof, I agree with the Photoshop suggestion. I can't picture it and would hate to see a look that might simply "not belong". When I think vinyl roofs, I think 1980s vintage Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes, Chrysler New Yorkers, or mid 1970s Ford Thunderbirds! (I know what you have in mind is different, but "I'm just sayin'.......") Last edited by Soon ExAudi Guy; 08-08-2010 at 07:24 AM. |

Since your car has so many mods on it already it probably works, as it is thematically appropriate. On a car with say just the vinyl roof, it might look out of place.
