Anyone know where to get a replacement off button? The one under the start engine button?

Pull up the start/stop button switch in one of the online part databases...then type the 11 digit BMW part nbr into a google search box to find vendors that are selling it.

For example...type "BMW xx xx x xxx xxx" (where x=the actual number you found) into a google/internet search box.

Good luck.

BTW, if you don't know of any online part database sites...here's a few:
  1. www.realoem.com
  2. http://bimmercat.com
  3. www.bmwfans.info

It's part of the "start" button. They're pretty cheap on eBay.

If it didn't come with the Auto/Start/Stop button, then you didn't order the correct switch (#3) in the diagram. You must have ordered #1 or #2 in the illustration below.

Are you just shopping by look...or are you shopping by the correct 11 digit BMW prat nbr for your car? I posted a direct link to the part database where you could get the 11 digit BMW part nbr for item #3...that is the one you need to buy.

I have no clue in regards to a "crystal" start stop engine button. If you're referring to one from a newer G series BMW...then again, look up the part nbr...then run that through the part nbr search feature on the part database site to see what other BMW models use that button. Just because another BMW uses a crystal button...doesn't mean that it will work/fit your car.

If you are referring to aftermarket switch/buttons...then make sure that they reveal what BMW models it was designed to fit.

For example, the button for my f06 and your 5 series is #3 in the 1st image below...but my f15 X5 uses a switch that looks similar (#1 in the 2nd pic below)...but is a totally different part and part nbr and is not compatible with the one used in the 5 & 6 series.

{5/6/7 f10/f06/f01 series switch}

{X5/X6 F15/F16 switch}

I'm looking more for the aftermarket one and not a genuine replacement. For a genuine replacement for sure I'd use real oem.

My Start Stop button has gotten pretty worn so I was going to replace it with this:

I've always like the S2000 red start button but thought this would look out of place in an F10. Then later I went back and thought it looked kind of good. The next day I was again thinking it might be too much.

So I want to get opinions? Too much? Neat sporty touch?
Main problem that i've encountered with aftermarket replacement buttons is that they get stuck. They need to be made with very strict tolerances and usually they are not. After having plain red start/stop button for a week I got tired of it getting stuck all the time so I've installed original button and bought carbon fiber stick on button that looks great and it doesn't get stuck (and obviously it is easier to install too). See pics below for both

I like it. It’s a bit more subtle.
