Mine came in the mail. I'm going to install without making a hole under the door. I'm going to make a hole in the OEM light housing and just pop it back in. I'll take some pics when I get time to do all this.

No hole in door panel. I removed the stock bulb housing and drilled it through the housing. It's actually really bright. It uses the CREE 7W R5 bulbs.

If you have a debadged car, would it make sense to get a projector with a blank image

Interesting option - Would you mind posting a picture of how/where you drilled the welcome light housing ... I presume you tapped into the lamp power to light these up.

Here is how I did it in 3 easy steps.
Drill a hole in the housing with the hole saw:

Pop these suckers in:

On the housing, you can see it writes HELLA if you look closely. Solder the RED wire at the A and the black wire at the H. Like so:

Connect it back into your light socket and BAM! you're done.

I think would would be even nicer if it was under the gap between the two doors and when you unlocked the car, it would slowly move the logo outwards, rather than having one light under each door.

kthankzbye, Nicely prepared DIY! Thank you. To confirm, since the placement of the projector LED replaces the under-door welcome light / LED do you find it is equally bright - more bright - or less bright?

It's super bright. Much brighter than any LED you can put in the housing. It uses the CREE LED, which is known to be the brightest.

I have bought these, it's 12 dollars a pair:

To each of their own. Some people think it's ricey for their own reasons but I think it adds a cool factor and a convo starter. I def. had people on the streets come up to me and asked if it came like that from BMW.

In the Autozone parking lot, this guy came up to me and said it was, "DOPE" and asked me to show him how it works.

Updated pics:

People probably thinks it's ricey cause it's made in China.
