Upgrade HiFi audio
I have a F11 2013 (Europe) and i want to upgrade the sound system - i have HiFi (676) and i would like to upgrade to Logic 7 (677) or even Bang & Olufsen.
Several questions: - speakers have same characteristics? can i simply swap current speakers with HK or B&O speakers? here i can buy a sh pair with ~150$ (HK) or ~250$ (B&O) - if i upgrade the amp, can i use the existing wiring? (i don't necessarily need the extra speakers in HK or B&O) - is Bavsound worthy to be considered? how is it comparing with HK or B&O? - do you have any other recommendations? (like another custom setup, but should not be more than 1000$). Many thanks |

Just buy the bimmertech amp plug and play. No wires cut or extra wires needed, use existing factory speakers with a Huge difference in sound and loudness, and you can always add a subwoofer down the road in the trunk if you’d like. Best purchase I made was my bimmertech amp and no I don’t work for them or anything

bimmertech amp is in fact Fischer PP 86DSP + config files + plug&play harness + bracket; it will cost me 900 USD + 200 USD to have it shipped here + 250 USD local taxes; in total 1350 USD.
I can buy the amp with 550 USD in Romania, i will need only the plug&play harness - is there somebody here selling a dedicated harness for F11 HiFi 676 option (European version - i think it has more speakers than US version - 2 rear back in the roof) - to include from the start the connectors for Fischer PP 86DSP. |

I've reached a conclusion regarding the upgrade:
Already installed - subs: Match MW 8BMW D (plug and play for F10) - subs amp: Ground Zero Hydrogen Mini TWO; wired required from trunk to subs (signal from subs to high input on amp, and back to subs with re-amplified signal; those will not be needed on the final setup) - front speakers: Match MS 42c BMW.1 (plug and play for F10) Already quite an improvement compared with HiFi. Still to be installed, after i will receive harness (bought it from ebay - 73mustangconv, will arrive around 20 dec): - Helix P SIX DSP Mk2 Will come back with impressions after finalizing setup. Techs who've done the install claims it will be better versus Top HIFI Harman Kardon or even Bang&Olufsen. |

Personally i would go aftermarket if upgradiung the suond system i have an F11 with HK L7 and it can go loud but i get plenty of rattle from teh passenger door and rear roof mounted speakers - yet to ascertain whether this just needs some deadening\securing of trim or if i've got damaged speakers....

Already 2 months since finalizing the upgrade, and IT'S WORTH EVERY $$$!!
Final setup: - main amp&dsp: Helix P SIX DSP Mk2; it took a while to find the best setup, now it sound crisp and clear - amp for subs: Ground Zero Hydrogen Mini TWO - harness: Technic - subs: Match MW 8BMW D - front speakers: Ground Zero GZCS 100BMW-B - a class above Match - rear speakers: Match MS 42c (with some adjustements on the plastic frame, to fit the enclosure) - center speaker: Ground Zero GZCS 100BMW-C Impressions: it sounds fabulous on vocal and instrumental; bass can still be improved (a trunk sub would be needed for crisp pulsing bass); no distortions at any volume (around 900 W - 2x200+5x100); way above HK logic 7 on E91 (my previous car) and F10 (friend's car); clear above B&O on Audi S4 (a friend's car) |

match
Hey, first time I have ever posted anything on any forum. It sounds like it wouldn't be worth it to upgrade to the match subs, then, if I was planning on a trunk sub anyway; does that seem right? That is to say, if it needs a good powered sub to really work well anyway, then money is better spent on a couple 12"'s and a top amp. Would you agree?
Just got my first BMW and love it. Has the HIFI DSP/Logic 7 or whatever system as stock. |

Ok I have a F11 2011 with stock speakers (no tweeters and always found the sound to be somewhat lacking
In my previous BMW 1 and 3 series I have bought tweeters and grills and the improvement has been amazing. However in the 5 the standard speakers (to probably save money have no option to add tweeters as only one socket. What I decided to do was take a chance on E60 logic 7 mids and tweeters. I've only done one side so far (the other tweeter hasn't arrived yet) but the improvement is night and day. No amp upgrade needed I'm over the moon!!! And as it's logic 7 (silver speaker and tweeters) you Can see them through the grills and they look Sweeeeeeet |
