When i split the screen (professional) and set the right hand side to show entertainment details it will show cover art of my music from my usb flash drive, however when I'm using stuff life spotify, it does not ... it used to work sporadically but stopped and now no matter what i do it just shows the name and album of the song in text and no art is displayed.

My spotify is the bmw app one running off an iphone that's in the snap in.

Anyone know why this is not working anymore and if there are any solutions ?

I noticed this too when I used the console USB and Pandora, however it won't do this (fortunately) when I use my USB/charging adapter in the cigarette lighter right next to it. Definitely weird. Showing the Album Cover of what I'm listening to is pointless if you can't see the artist name/song title, etc. I don't get it either, man..

subscribed. I was about to post the same thing. My 2012 535 was able to display the entertainment detail from Pandora correctly but my 2015 X5 does not. I think this is a software bug with the new idrive. Is this something we could complain to BMW corp?

The funny thing the album art is actually there as you can see it on the main app display on the left hand side .. its just the right hand side (entertainment details) that shows nothing but some ugly text .... definitely a bug , but since my idrive version has never changed since i got the car and it definitely worked before, it must be a bug with the app (spotify, pandora etc....)

Just to add this seems to happen to all the 2016 loaner cars I've gotten from the dealer.

Eliw, what year is your car? Maybe I should do an Idrive reboot

My new 2016 does the same thing. Album art shows up fine in the left hand main screen but not in right hand screen when connected through USB. Another curious thing is if I play Pandora through Bluetooth, the album art shows up fine in the right hand screen.

bumping this back up...

I recently updated my iphone to the latest version and all hell broke lose on my connectivity to the idrive. I couldnt play pandora nor charge my iphone consitently via the USB.

My solution: I updated the idrive software from the bmw website (www.bmw.usa/update). download the file on a usb, attached the usb to the car port and update software via the idrive menu. 2 mins later, your on the latest media/telephone software.

so far this cured my all issues. Hope it does to you as well.

disclaimer: this is just a suggestion to whoever is having issues with coverart/pandora/usb charging etc. i dont take responsibility if your idrive crashes : )

I have zero issues with cover art with Spotify. It always shows. I have a 16 528. Doesn't matter if I use the usb or Bluetooth

My X5 and M5 are both 2015 early build (late 2014). I think the software on those were a bit flaky on the apps. via bluetooth, i would get the first coverart on pandora and it will never refresh to go to the next songs. this happened on both cars so i didnt think it was my phone. now when i updated my iphone to the latest version, i lost that functionality on the USB, again both cars... i stumbled upon a thread on bimmerfest and decided to update the media/telephone software and boom.. all is well again!
