Hi guys,

It's been awhile since I logged in.
I can confirm that you will need 4 springs for all F10s.

I have AD and IAS on my 550i and I have been running H&R springs for almost 2 months now. Prior to that I had Eibach on. But the Eibach were too soft and it bounce around a lot no matter which mode you are in. After swapping for H&R, problems are mostly solved (comfort is no longer an option as it will bounce around still). Normal only feels slightly harder and Sport mode feel a lot tighter!

As with self-leveling system, it is not available for F10 but for F11.
I have no experience with RD Springs yet, so I can't comment on that.

Hope these help.

Cheers.

our dear friend kfiend,

wow, long time no chat. nice to hear from you again. you should log in more as we need more advices from serious mod guy like you.

how much lower is your car after H&R installed? and how much they cost you? you have only the springs swapped?

mind to PM me the vendor's info?

one thing keep me from getting the springs sooner is the warranty issue. any advice?

cheers, mate

damn, another reason to get the GT ...
if they have it for f11 also, would explain the price difference

thats so cool, so they just programmed the rear lower? awesome..

i think the f11 has the self levelling system as the ACS website does indicate f11 using 2 springs. but certainly dont justify the huge price diff!!!

and you dont need to re-program it. its self levelling. just change the 2 springs in front and drive away!

is it that intelligent? it senses angle or height of front suspension, then it adjusts in the back automatically? this is amazing (sorry if i sound stupid)
so u get that 'pfft' noise when u turn off your car?
any difference in driving feel /comfort of the front w/ springs vs the back with the air susp.?

im satisfied with my stand. susp. .. until i see the first lowered f10/f11, then i would want one

I can hear the air pressure release sound like pssssshhhh near the rear wheels everytime after my 5GT with original front springs is locked in about 5 secs.

Hi Kfiend,
I also have been running the h&rs on my 550i, and like you said, in normal and comfort, the suspension feels very unsettling kind of bouncing from front to back, but in Sport, it's almost a perfect balance -- too bad they don't make the suspension where you can keep it in Sport Mode.

My front end is a little lower than I would like -- I can only stick one finger barely between the fender and the top of the tire. How low is your front end? Do you have any pics? Also, have you noticed that the driver side wheel gap is a little lower than the right?

I've thought about changing to ACS springs, but I've had people complain that it still sits too high. I've also thought about putting about a quarter or half inch spacer into the strut housing in the front to git it up a little if it doesn't compromise safety.

One more question, I've had people tell me that the struts are going to wear out faster with the more aggressive rate springs, but since I'm trading it in in 3 years, surely they wouldn't wear out before then. What do you think?

Thanks for any info or input!

Its 4800 for the parts(4 springs) and 5200 for the labour.

I know its a bit more than whats avaliable outside, but as I'll keep the car for a few years, would rather have the comfort of a bmw installation.

That's not bad, Chiver. ACS installed by BMW should be much better than the RD order overseas and install by outside vendor; based on the similar price.

If you want something with a bigger drop, probably you need to look elsewhere. I wanted something conservative at the same time reducing the body roll.

That's true. I think your car with the OEM rims will only look good with the slight drop. You really don't want to look too aggressive.

No they didn't mention it. I'll call and ask again. I understand that you would only need to have the car inspected if you change springs and shocks together.

+1, no inspection for springs swap from my understanding.
