Re: the NEXT 2017-1 29.xxGB update files - If using a 32gb USB, different brands have different available sizes once formatted, and thats why some people can get away with them and some can't.

My Sandisk was too small by a few fractions of a GB, but Verbatim was just a bit bigger and it fit fine. As said, a 64GB is the safest bet.

I also read of a MicroSD + adaptor working for some guy on another forum. Not sure what the specifics of that set up were though.

Yep, that's what I thought might be the case. Mine was a Corsair Voyager Stealth 32Gb if anyone cares.

Did yours accept the files or was it too small? Might be good to keep a list of what has worked.

If you get stuck wth storage and have a USB Harddisc lying around you can easily use up to 500Gb drives, the car recognises them without issue.... I use the same HDD to update to the maps as I do to store all of my MP3s in the car :-)

Downloaded, extracted, copied the correct files on to a FAT32 USB stick and my car just doesn't auto update?

Does the USB need to be called something other than 'NO NAME'? I thought it would need to be called NAVD_000014B9_255_003_240 but it won't let me use that name on a FAT32 format.

I've scrolled through all the menus to look for a manual update but can't see anything?! I have a 15' plate pronav so have the right file: NBT EUROPE NEXT 2017-1

Any ideas? Thanks

It does not need a special name, I just labelled mine BMW Maps.
I presume you managed to get all the files on? Did you use a 32 or 64gb stick?

Are you using a Mac? Only ask as JOHNBMWM5 had a lot of trouble getting his to work.

I think he took 3 attempts to get it to work, have a look at his earlier posts on this thread.

Yes, I downloaded and extracted via a Mac. Plus copied the files on to the brand new USB via a Mac too. Wonder what difference that would make?!

You need to insert the usb and go to Navigation in the settings menu, it will then see it.

Tried this and nothing. Wiped the stick and did it all again. Still nothing. Odd.

Is the USB 64Gig or more?, if not it's too small.
It took me three goes before it worked.
Make sure you are formatted in FAT32
