Wheel Colour Change......Thoughts

I have an AW M Sport with 19" wheels. Before collecting the car last June I saw white M3 and M4 with black wheels in the dealers and really liked the contrast. I got a price off them for painting my wheels but at the time it was a bit much on top of all the little extras I had added.
But now I am again thinking of having it done, not by the dealers as they would probably farm the job out anyway. I have visited the company and they seem quite professional and would look after the car during the process. £265 for removal of wheels and tyres then powder coating and lacquer.
I was considering a dark grey/graphite colour rather than black, and possibly a matt finish. My only concern is if I didn't like it once it was done. I have viewed a number of photos but not seen one in the flesh other than the M3 and M4.
Any of you have white cars with black/grey wheels?
Any thoughts??

I have an AW F10 with black 20" wheels.

I personally don't like 19" wheels in black, I think it makes them look smaller for some reason. Got to be 20" to get the right look imo...

What is the colour of your car?
Colour of wheels very much depend on the colour of your car.
Black wheels suit white cars IMHO.
Any other colour then ferric grey Except if you have Grey car.

Well that's another factor to consider, I am not sure if the 351 wheels I have will suite black or grey. The only other option would be to get a set of 20" wheels in the right colour, but at a much greater cost. I will have to find a picture of a white F10 with black 351 wheels to help decide.

Don't do it.

My view is that you totally lose the style of the wheel when they are black, you can't see the spoke design, all you do is make the wheel design disappear.

i have the ferric 461m's on sophistic grey car. They aren't as "ferrici" as you think and stand out quite nicely (I would say that) against the darker colour.

Anthracite is usually a better colour over black. It retains more of the detail of the wheel and doesn't show the tyres as much when they are dirty.

I'm still very undecided, I am concerned that the wheels just won't look right.
Only one way to find out I suppose!
I quite like the look of the finish of this wheel.Attachment 1142042

What is the point of somebody commenting on your thread if you fail to mention the colour of your car?

Thank you skipsmith.
I am leaning towards the shadow chrome/hyper black, the shade can be varied to your preference apparently as it is a two stage painting process, black first then a dusting of silver over the top. Will be sure to post photos if, as, and when done.
Thank you all for your comments.

Skipsmith, do you have a photo of your 351's in gunmetal, would be interested to see what they look like.

Skipsmith, that does look good, I was worried that a darker colour wouldn't suit the wheel, but I think it does. So.....gunmetal or shadow chrome!!!

Some genuine 19" M5 alloys with Pilot Super Sports on eBay at the moment £1650, just a bit much for me at the moment, and I would always be thinking I should have got the 20" version. Or there are WSP Italy 20" M5 alloys which are described as being equal to original spec, £980 + the cost of tyres.

Who do you have in mind to paint your wheels? Mine were done at the Wheel specialist in Cheshire Oaks, my M5 reps will need a refurb for the summer so I might go with the shadow chrome

I went up to Demon Wheels in Chorley just to have a chat and see what their premises were like. Fairly handy for me to get to and the guys live local and are flexible with a time to drop the car off outside normal hours. Also their unit was spotless and that is where my car would be for the two or so days for the job to be done.
I suppose it's a bit hit and miss without any prior experience. The dealers were asking £500 to paint the wheels, I should find out who they use.
