550i Rims -- useable as winter rims?

I will be ordering my vehicle this week and am thinking about upgrading the rims to the Style 312 cross spoke, ferric grey finish as shown here - http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391073.

With the stock 19" wheels, I asked the sales rep about using them for winter rims (they will give me credit for the rubber to go on the 20" wheels), and he said "you won't be able to find winter tires to fit them".

I can't find on the BMW website/auto configurator the exact size of the 19" rims/tires, but it appears that you can get Blizzak LM-60s to fit the 2011 5 series with 19" rims. See http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&oEvent=event5

Can anyone tell me the tire sizes, front and back, on the 550i sport package, and what you are thinking about doing for winter tires. I am asking now because I will get a better price if I buy them now.

Thanks!

If you are referring to winter tires as in snow tires... your dealer is right. It will be very hard to find any snow tires in 19". You can go to tirerack.com and it should give recommendation on what wheel size is your stock wheels.

If you want winter tires, it's better to get new wheel/tire package. Probably a 17" package. It will probably cheaper to get that than trying to look for a 19" snow tire. 17" is not the looker but it's winter... Cold, slippery, slushy and dirty. Who looks at wheels when your car is so messed up with winter grime.n

I found 19" run flats for winter -- a Pirelli tire. I would go to a smaller rim but I am not in love with the stock 19" sport rims -- they will look great for winter though. I really feel that 20" rims fill out the car better. I don't want to buy 17s and 20s, and be left with 19s. Besides, we get a few snow falls and the rest of the time the roads aee pretty clear so I want a good looking rim!
