Engine noise
Heard this chattering/ticking noise this morning when I first started the car. I had the hood up checking the A/C line because my A/C is not cooling the car like it did before. I was looking for the compressor. Freaked me out. Made an appointment for Friday to have everything checked out. I also have a loud whining noise when I am backing up. Not sure if this is normal the faster you back up the louder it’s get. Never paid any attention until the other day had the radio off and the window down. This is my second 535i and don't remember the other one making that whining sound when backing up. I will have everything checked out Friday. I have a 2013 535i M Sport with 46000 miles. I tried to load the video I took with my phone but couldn’t get it to up load. This is the closest thing I could find on U-Tube.

I think I have that same noise when cold starting. I actually thought it was coming from the pully area. Once warm I didn't hear any strange noise. Everything feels and drives normal so I'm not sure either.

The noise I was hearing turned out to be a bad HPFP on top they said. No more noise but for some reason the tail pipe tips are always black with carbon build up. Cleaned they up and a week later they are the same.
