Thanks for the feedback on the springs. Exactly what I was looking for. The new wheels look nice. I am OK with the stock wheels, but I had seen someone had them powder coated black and they looked even better. I may look into it further in the future if I can get another set of stock front rims for a reasonable cost so I can do a square set up. I drive about 15k miles a year so tire life becomes an issue for me. Will be getting rid of the RFT as soon as the rears are worn out (dealer just put new ones on the front when I bought it).

I almost did the powder coating on factories but just decided to leave those alone and find some rims I like. But I'm sure yours will look great if you go the powder coating route |

you could also plastidip your wheels for cheap and can always take them off later if you decided you want your stock color back.

I know what you mean! I purchased my first BMW about six weeks ago- a 2011 535i M-Sport in carbon black metallic (super deal) and am having a blast with some DIY projects. I went crazy the first few weeks;
Window tint. 30F & 50R Gloss black grilles. Carbon fiber trunk spoiler. Front lip/nose spoiler. Painted my front lower air grilles gloss black. LED interior lights. De-badged the trunk "Chemical Guys" product purchase for amazing black paint care products. Dinan 20" Black wheels (just purchased and deciding on tires and sizes).( Hopefully next week.) Thinking about springs- H&R or Dinan? Muffler Delete? still researching exhaust. Everyone warned me that BMW's were expensive to own; but I didn't think I would be spending it on aftermarket products!!!

Awesome color and choice on the wheels. Been on and off about keep the stock M sport wheels or get some aftermarket ones. Maybe your pictures will change my mind. Can't wait to see.

lsturbointeg, Thanks for the kind comment!! That's what I was going for, something a little different. Here is the link to the spoiler yep it's EBAY!!!!!!! gotta love it!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291486932591...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It's not super high quality (got what I paid for) but it looks good and didn't cost $1K. I had to do some sanding to one of the "feet" to get it to sit fairly even, but that's half the fun. I used 3m tape for the "feet" and 3M silicone trim adhesive for the back part that "overhangs the trunk" Here is a link to a post on my DIY. enjoy!! http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1219717

I just had the dealer put the H&R sport springs on mine along with the M5 competition package front sway and the H&R 20mm rear sway this past weekend (They basically matched the pricing of the Indy shop I was going to use and were able to do the alignment in-house so I had them do it while it was in for service). The springs lowered the sport suspension just a little (maybe 1/2") and the sways are a huge improvement. Overall the car drives MUCH better now. It doesn't feel like driving a Buick any more.
While I was talking with the SA I mentioned trying to dip my wheels to make them black and he also said he could have my wheels powder coated for $450 out the door and give me a loaner while they had my car. This seems like a decent deal (when you add in dismounting/mounting/balancing the tires too) so I am really considering it... Now I just need to figure out if I want flat, satin or gloss black finish? There is a black M5 in our parking lot that has similar looking wheels to my car (but 20") and they are flat black but I think a gloss black wheel might look better even if it shows the brake dust... |

Love the mods so far! can you tell me if installing h&r springs voids the warranty? does it matter where you get the labour done?
can you also tell me where you bought them from? thanks! |

If you blow your shocks/struts with different springs on the car they may deny a warranty claim on them (although these are wear items so it may be hard to make a claim for them anyway). They have to be able to show how the MOD/aftermarket item had a direct impact to the OEM system and was responsible or contributed to the failure... So no, replacing the springs is not going to void your engine or exhaust warranty...

Front Sway bars are easy. Maybe a 2 or 3 on a 1-10 scale. Rear depends on what else needs to be removed on the car to get the old sway out. From walking under my car at the dealer the rear on the F10 didn't look too bad. I think there are a couple of DIY out there. You just need to jack it up and look at it... Four bolts for the mounts, one bolt on each end link. There rest depends on the type of car and how it's put together.
