I just installed a set of 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 on my wife's F10 because she wasn't happy with the ride quality of the standard 35 and 30 aspect ratio. I was worried about rubbing but it worked out great. Her car now rides as smooth as my F07. The car gained about 1" in height but it's not very noticeable and the tires fill the wheel well much better. I recalled there was another F10 owner that put some 20" Alpina wheels from a 7-series and it fit fine. The only thing I did notice was it took a little more for the car to accelerate from a stop light due to the larger OD but since you have a 550, you probably won't notice.

@ndinh - my 2012 ActiveHybrid 5 came with dealer option 20" wheels, which I believe are 8.5 Front, 9 Rear (I don't know the offsets). I, too, am wanting to install 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 on the car. The AH5 is supposed to be identical to the 535i.
Right now the car has 245/35/20 up front and it looks pretty close to the spring already, so I'm worried it'll rub there. You said you installed these tires on your F10, but is yours a 550 or 535? I don't know if there is any difference in the wheel wells or front suspension between the two, so I'm hoping your's is a 535.. |
