The time from production date to delivery is pretty bounded (2-3 months)... the real silliness is waiting for a production slot. If your dealer doesn not quickly give you a production slot date (it took a week to get mine), call another dealer. The dealers each have limited production slots, and if they don't have one to give you they can keep you in line for way too long.

I'm in the same situation, Feb production slot with am ETA of mid-April. Waiting sucks! Can't count the number of times I've gone through the brochure and the website.

What is the actual production time for one vehicle, from start to finish? Any ideas?

Once it enters production? 1-2 weeks at the most. Then the car has to be transported to its final destination. Of course, the time that takes depends on where it's going. About 4 weeks to California from Germany. East coast U.S. is more like 2 weeks. But the car sometimes can sit at the docks a while waiting for transport. And once it gets to the final port, the car has to be prepared for final delivery to the dealer. That was real quick for me since the port is in the Los Angeles area and I'm in San Diego. Total time from order to delivery for my 535i was 6 weeks since I got an immediate production slot when I ordered.

6 weeks sounds so good! My production slot is week 6 and estimated delivery is week 13+. Order was placed week 45 2011. Long time to go!

So jealous of you guys getting your cars in!!! The wait goes on for me...
Toying with the idea of taking whatever is available on the lot... But just can't find one close to my order...

Good luck to you guys, the wait is very painful, I did it with my first BMW e46. This time, the dealer was able to snag a car right off production and get it alloted to itself. The car was here 2-3 week later (East Coast), optioned like I wanted it.
But you will ove your car when it arrives, customized just for you. |

How are you NA customers able to get such detailed information? All I got was an internal order confirmation sheet which showed the acceptance of my order by BMW, the options selected and the production date. My dealer says the next I hear from them will be when my car arrives!
