Also does anyone know which suspension you get if you add the adaptive drive? Also on a side note, I took a photo of the front LED fogs. Theres a radiator visible behind each fog and the intercooler is visible on the lower middle grill, with the radiator visible through the kidney's. Does anyone know if those are both oil coolers behind the fogs? Thanks in advance.
So BOTH fog sides still have visible radiators to cool, next to them Or just one side like Hoa said? If both then thank GOODNESS, I was really about to hate the LCI if they took away even one. First no M suspension, then if it had no extra lower side radiators (BOTH like the pre-LCI) then literally there are no functional enhancements on the M Sport package. Taking the suspension away is the big one but at least leave us with some extra cooling still, and not any less than the pre-LCI.

Yes both sides are open. Actually the picture doesn't show it, but the opening is a good size with the fog light suspended in the middle of the opening on both sides.

GREAT to hear, thanks. Wondering why Hoa yours is apparently closed up on one side?

Pre-LCI 535 has both sides open. One side for the oil cooler and the other side for the secondary engine coolant radiator.

I just left the dealership. Pre lci 535i and 550i have both vents.

I have inspected both pre lci and lci. I don't understand why one would have both working vent and one would have one dummy. I took pictures of both vehicles with the window sticker for comparison.

Vehicle 1 535i with one opening

Vehicle 2 with both vents open

I will be back at the dealership Friday and next Wednesday if anyone need me to look at or compare anything else.

Any chance the closed lci 535i is due to the Park Distance Control? Maybe a sensor there. Or is there any evidence that the openings open/close or something? Otherwise... that is strange for one to be closed.

Does anyone know what the advanced RTTI is? Without a doubt the Msport my dealership just got in was a 2014 and both sides are open.

This is weird indeed. Who would be able to answer this for sure? The vent closings look like they are removable. Did BMW just forgot to take them off? I do have park distance on my LCI and my driver's side vents are closed.

The driver side does have an additional radiator on the one that has the open vent. I can't tell about the one that is blocked. The one that is blocked does look like it can be removed. I do see some space to pry it out

Can you please find out from the dealer why the vents are different for the same model? The dealership I deal with don't even know how to setup my Sirius radio and set memory seats. Unfortunately, it's the only one for 200 miles.

Wow.....this is truly a horrendous move by BMW.

The M Sport Suspension is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!......No body roll, No floaty ride on the highway, No wheel gap like a Camry, and most importantly NO Artificial steering feel.

For all the naysayers - please find someone that has a 2013 Msport Susp car, u will see what ur missing.

For the people that want a luxury ride like a Lexus LS/ES - which is the MASS customer base - BMW should have the Standard Susp, but WHY screw the enthusiasts that helped build the BMW brand by not even offering a proper Sport Suspension on ur so called Sport Sedan?????????????

BTW this is how my 2013 Msport Susp sits:

Stick with the facts and stop spreading nothing but speculation guys...

Fact - US spec cars do not get the 706 Msport suspension that the 13's did (verified by BMWNA)
Fact - Nobody here has tested for themselves how the 14 and 13 Msports feels with passive suspension
Fact - Nobody knows if the old 706 Msport suspension is better than the current suspension in the LCI's
Fact - BMW has publicly announced one of the biggest enhancements of the 5 LCI is better handling and steering which was verified by atleast one magazine test so far (edmunds)
I see ur in NY - I invite u to drive my car with the M Sport Suspension and see for yourself.

Stop believing the BMW Marketing about improved handling/steering.
They took away the only suspension that offered those improvements - stiffer springs/shocks, thicker Anti-Roll Bars, and most important More Direct/Heavier Steering that doesnt feel so artificial.

BTW i speak from owning a 2012 528i Msport with DDC - it was complete crap especially coming from an E92.

I know for sure it's a dummy vent and it can be removed from the back. When I installed my Msport front bumper. It gave me a black plastic piece that covered the drivers side vent. I opt not to use it. Thought that was weird...

VERY weird. I guess it's safe to assume some option is forcing one vent closed? And anyone reporting seeing an LCI with both open are SURE that it was a 535i correct?

On another note, what's with the horrible fit of the plastic bracket on this car:

Why don't we just wait and see how it drives. I just sold my 2011 550i M-Sport with ACS springs and ordered a 2014 550i M-Sport. If the suspension is no good, it's a easy fix with the lowering springs ---- it's just that BMW should offer one instead of the $3500 Dynamic Handling Package!

I suspect the vent thing being a installer error at the factory. Parts like these are installed by hand by someone and since there is such a wide variety of F10 models being built on the same assembly line someone f'ed up is my guess. I see no reason why those two nearly identical cars would have two different arrangements. Given the LCI's have new LED foglights and trim around the bumper maybe someone installed the wrong part for these early builds or they forgot to remove the blocking cover meant for different F10 engines that doesn't have coolers on each side.

Good thing is that those grills pulls straight out so someone with one side closed off could check if they can pull it out and remove the plate that is covering that side easily.

So to all the LCI conspiracy theorist here yes this also makes the pre lci that much better on top of the suspension Next up..."Better soundproofing doors in the LCI is making the car too quiet and less sporty...."

As was obvious, based on this review (the original post has pictures showing the measurements of how much lower the M suspension is, but we already know that) the M suspension 2013 rides sportier. There's simply no way a standard suspension (which goes under a base, luxury, modern AND M Sport for the LCI) that sits higher is going to handle better than an M suspension on a car with the same chassis when you really think about it. Expecting it to is unlikely to wishful thinking.

LCI M sport: 15.5" (Gray)
2013 non-M: 15.5" (Blue)

So... the LCI M Sport with the 19" wheels has the same ride height as the 2013 non-M.

The pics without the ruler are of the LCI.

I'd say the LCI M is between the 2013 M and non-M. LCI has more body motion than the 2013 M, doesn't feel as planted. But compared to a 2013 non-M the LCI had more grip from the performance tires/wheels. When I tested a 2013 non-M (the first car I drove last week), I thought it was relatively floaty (for what I expected of my first BMW drive, coming from an A4) and the tires were noticably squealing on spirited turns and even relatively slow switchbacks in the hills where I live. Then drove the 2013 M and there was no going back. Was going to order an LCI M but after reading all this commotion I held off till an LCI was in stock.

I came home with a 2013 M Sport Carbon Black and Oyster/Black!

Thanks for all the info in Bimmerfest.

To give you guys an idea of the wheel gap on 2014 Msport, I can lay my iPhone 5 on its side level on top of the tire and easily place it between the fender and the tire. Someone said in a earlier post it was only 10mm higher than a 2013, if so I don't think you'd be able to visibly notice the difference if the 2 cars were side by side. When I saw a 2013 next to a 2014 the other day, I coulda been Ray Charles and seen the difference!

According to BMW.de configurator the M Sport suspension is only 10mm lower.

Quote:

Also, if you want Dynamic Damper control, you get the std. suspension
