Hello everyone!

I have a 2011 535i with the old i-Drive interface....

Is there anyway to update to the new interface? Its so much smoother and looks alot better then the gray theme in my car

Yes, but requires whole new Head Unit and FSC set or emulator.

anyone actually do this? Im really interested... i hate the gray look idrive.. reminds me of windows 98..

I have not but I seen seen plenty of threads where others successfully did it.

As much as I like some of the new features, it would be cost prohibitive for me. I would rather spend money on upgraded sound system or complete the 360 degree camera view (270 now).

I know the 2017 one isnt possible ....

but i just want the black dark theme on my car i hate the ugly gray idrive system on my car... makes it feel like a 2002 car....

Both are possible, but it requires hardware changes.

any idea on what we're looking it? i dont necessarily want the 2016 interface....

i like the black themed i-drive.. any estimates / hardware info would be nice

$800-2K. It would depend on which options you want (Navigation, ConnectedDrive, etc). It might be less if you can find one used on Ebay or through junk yards.

That's the 3rd generation NBT idrive system that was release in 2013. All new hardware. You have the 2nd generation CIC idrive.

ID5/6 Toggle works. Not sure about 7. Also, ID4 toggle can sometimes result in needing FSC repair.

I was considering the same for our F10, but after having the new version with our 2017 X5, I realized it is not worth going for the upgrade if it involves hardware, I go for it if I was keeping the F10 for like another 10 years.

Sounds like a fair judgement. I bought a 2016 model of F11 and a part of the decision was the ability to upgrade the hardware to bigger better screen from the 6.5" that was installed.
