Thumbs down Be advised: M Sport Package has changed for 2012

At first glance it appears that the price of the M Sport package on a 535i has been reduced from $6,500 in 2011 to $4,800 for the 2012 models. The BAD news is that M Sport no longer includes either Active Roll Stabilization (ARS) or Adaptive Drive. There's a new option in 2012 for Active Roll Stabilization that costs $2,500. I can't determine if this also includes Adaptive Drive, but it doesn't say anywhere in the press release that it does. Thus, while at first blush it appears that the cost of the M Sport package has gone down from $6,500 to $4,800, it actually has INCREASED from $6,500 to $7,300, and this may not even include Adaptive Drive. This is on top of a base price increase for the 535i of $2,150 (from $50,100 to $52,250).

Kinda old news... There all all kinds of package shifts year to year. I added up a 2011 vs 2012 550i M-Sport. They are pretty close; the 2012 is slightly more, naturally. It took me a bit to insure that they were comparably equipped, but I got it done. I will say that the car you are looking at (535) has a bigger base increase than the 550, so I guess I'd be more miffed if that was the car I was eyeing...

2012 M Sport with ARS is same as 2011 M Sport or 2011 Sport with DHP.

This is actually good news cos imo, the ARS is effective and should be ticked.

I hope someone gets the F10 with ARS and SAT, and change the springs to something stiffer and let us have your views on it, compared to one with adaptive drive. This is likely sportier than one with adaptive drive in sport (+) mode.

But I understand the F10 M5 will have the adaptive drive? I don't know whether the M5's adaptive drive sport mode is tighter than the 2011 F10's adaptive drive.

I know there's posts elsewhere about the difference in prices between the UK and US, but I'm so damn envious - a basic spec list price 535i in the UK is £38,915 (approx $64k) and the basic 550i is £53k, or approx $88k. I think Scandinavia is even worse.

Life just aint fair !
