Porting n63 exhaust turbo manifolds.
Has anybody ever ported the stock N63 exhaust manifolds?
It looks like it can easily be done, but is their any proven data claiming it is worth it? Porting the exhaust manifolds will make the turbos spool up quicker. Just curious before I make an attempt to do it. I have a reputable shop that does ALL my porting needs for my racecar. Wont be a challenge to have him do these. But the question is, Is it worth it? |

I felt it was easier to purchase an extra set rather then wait the downtime.
I actually purchased a set on ebay used for $90 and had them shipped directly to the company doing the port work. Final total was $310 Ported. Now I just have to install them. |

port and polish is always good. had that done to my turbo build back in the day. i mean, it was a full engine build so it made sense. but for you if that's all your doing i'm not too sure what the benefits are with just a port and polish. usually head work is done to compliment the port and polish...maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in

No update just yet. They are still sitting aside. I have some n63tu turbos i'm thinking of installing. But only if the compressor covers can be swapped.
So I'll be installing the manifolds at that time. I hate that it wont be a direct comparison anymore :\ Quote:
On a Mitsubishi evo. People are picking up 20whp with just a ported exhaust manifold |

I have them installed. I cant say just off the bat if they are making a difference. But I am noticing the turbos spool up quicker.
I did also change to n63tu turbos. Not sure if that is the cause or not. |

I don't know how much different the headers are between the N63 and S63, but S63TU headers can be installed on the S63 with some machine work done where the headers meet the turbos.

What was involved in the turbo swap? Just swapping the compressor covers?
