UK G30 confiurator now online

Posted in the G30 forums but thought I would post here in the UK section as well.

Will have a quick look and see how much this all comes to!

They seem to have removed it... Probably just as well, since my new 535 Touring is due next week - I don't want to look

Quick update - all the 5 Series configurators are down.

No 550 either. Paint colour choice is surprisingly limited and the optional spare-wheel is a turn-up. Where does it go?

And "Rhombicle" is an entry for Bollocks Word of the Month.

Garage List
Fantasy... begin!

Although I note that some of the options don't have descriptions next to them. Not great unless you have the brochure or the tech guide up in another window..

pic attached of the back of the new 5 Series mini brochure I picked up at the dealer today.

For me, standard SE equipment highlights are Pro Media, auto gearbox with shift paddles and LED lights.

Thanks AP. No 535d or 550i yet, as others say, but the 540ixdrive looks good: 0-62 in 4.8s, virtually same price as 530d xdrive....

I priced up a 540i xdrive as close as possible to the spec of my 535d and the new car is about £1500 cheaper, which was a surprise. I suspect the discounts will be meagre to start with though.

Few points of note:

a) If LED headlights are standard, then why is there an offer of Adaptive Headlights for £450 but Adaptive LED headlights for £1150? This implies Xenons are standard - and the photograph seems to show a projector lense in the standard car.

b) It seems bizarre (Though welcome) that M Sport braking system, Sport Auto etc are now standard but you now have to pay £60 for Remote Services, previously free with Pro Nav.

Otherwise the spec is very generous, I'd be happy with a completely standard 530d with zero fitted options which would have made my recent search far easier than it was with the F10.

It seems like there are errors somewhere - the standard specification list in the above photo shows Remote Services despite the £60 charge on the configurator as well as the LED headlights.

Also, what gives with the colour range? I thought the F10 was dull colour wise, this is even worse for the M Sport!

The LED headlights will be the LED 'Lite' system that you get in the 1 & 3 series (u less you upgrade to Icon lights) they are lower powered / not as bright and don't have all the adaptive functionality. I hired a 3 series in Barcelona this summer and it had the standard LEDs, they're not quite as good as the Xenons, let alone the full fat Adaptive LEDs.

Xenons aren't an option.

Sigh - this will therefore be what is fitted to 95% of used G30's.

It'll be the LCI Xenons all over again, where we go from most people speccing the Adaptive Xenons to nobody bothering because the basic Xenons came free. Easy to find a pre LCI F10 with Adaptive, very hard to find a post LCI one.

I'm disappointed that they're not offering the Laser LEDs as an option, I'd quite like them next.

There are quite a lot of errors in the downloadable price list and flyer, particularly in the description of the M Sport spec, I think.

E.g: Sports seats are missing from the list of what M Sport spec includes but it's clear they're included if you go to the individual options pricing.

.... and M Sport cars get bigger wheels as standard: 18s on 520d, 19s on higher powered cars.

That's £1500 of value they've omitted to mention in the summary of MSport Spec....

M Sport Plus has made itself less useful by coming with ridiculous 20's though. 19's really is as big as you need on a 5 Series.

If you're thinking of getting adaptive drive, it's £335 cheaper on an MSport than an SE this time.

Agreed. And the 19" 664M's that are standard on high-powered MSports look great IMHO

Wait until you see one before deciding, every generation (not just BMWs) have needed bigger wheels to look 'just right'. I put my winter MSport 18s on yesterday and they look too small, but appreciate not everyone would agree.

The 35 profile on the back of mine is about as low as I'd want to go regardless of what it does to the looks.

I popped into BMW UK at Park lane in London at the weekend and ask at reception when they would have a G30 there for display.
The answer I got back was January although I wasn't convinced that she was that knowledgeable by the way she answered it.
Anyway we'll see when it appears there.
