DINAN mufflers installed on 550i

I got the DINAN exhaust installed on the 550i. Total cost 3k installed at Performing Imports in Atlanta. I took advantage of the 20% of sale going on through the end of the month. Not sure how to post sound clips. I HATED OEM sound, to quiet.. and I did not want it to sound like a mustang so after hours of research I decided to go with DINAN. I am very satisfied with the result, Aesthetically speaking, 10 out of 10, great aggressive look with just enough sticking out. Sound, 8 out of 10, BIG difference from OEM (which is not saying much). If your looking for a muscle car sound this is not the choice for you....maybe Meisterschaft GTC Exhaust (
) is your choice. If you want a deeper sound with NO drone this is the way to go!

Dpouncey,

Can you hear the exhaust note inside the car with windows up? I would like to hear your car, I have been considering this since missing the 20% off sale last year for my 2013 550. How was your experience with Performing Imports? Are you planning to get the D1 or D2 software?

Thanks for the post!

Ya I'm on the fence on this right now...only a few days left in sept

My biggest hang up (other than price) is the looks. I like my 550 trapezoid tips actually. The dinan tips seem to be really thin and stick far out?

With a white 550 sport not sure if black or chrome looks better...hmmmm.

Dpouncey, got any pics?

Yess black tips look good with white car i seen it at the bmw dealership when i got mine done. Dinan exhaust will look the same as the m5 when comparing for sticking out, but remember when exhaust gets hot or warmed up they stick out alil more and you will get too see the dinan logo better.

Yes, you can hear the exhaust from inside the car, especially around 2500-3000 rpm. I do not know how to post sound clips or I would share. Not as loud as I was expecting from inside but this could be due to the well insulated car. Ron at Performing Imports is Very knowledgeable and straight forward...highly recommend. I was on the fence about the color, originally decided black but finally went with silver because my car is a dark color ( carbon black). Honestly I wanted the tips to be seen! If I had a white car... Definitely black. Eventually I will install stage 3 because it is compatible with the free flow exhaust..... Waiting on the 20% off on software! If you decide to go Dinan I doubt that you will regret it

Hey, chrome looks nice on black! The chrome is sort of a chameleon, blends in black when reflecting the body color and chrome when viewed directly.

Great information. How much do you hear the exhaust when daily driving? When starting up or just running around, can you hear it reasonably well?

I had Dinan exhaust on my 335xi, cold start up I could hear it, and under hard acceleration I could hear it. Otherwise once the car was warm, and for general driving around, really had to listen hard to hear much of a difference from stock.

I don't want anything obnoxious, but I'd sure like to hear that V-8 a bit. The other day I heard both an RS5 and C63 pull away (not hard acceleration), both had a really nice throaty sound. Can't say what the driver heard in the cabin.

Any advice or comments?

Here is the thing about Dinan. I put one of the more popular cat back systems everyone talks about on here and it made the car sound like it had side pipes. I pulled off that system and got my 2k back. Put the Dinan on and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! They use the OEM vacuum valve so when you are not WOT, the sound is barely noticeable in the cabin, but when you get on it, the second tail pipe opening comes alive and the sound is perfect. It makes the car SOUND like a BMW and not a Dodge charger or some other loud Muscle car. In my opinion, there is no better option in this price range for the car. Truly and excellent sound that is noticeable by not obnoxious.

My 535 is jet black/Amaro. I got the ceramic controls and they look great on the inside. What i didn't realize was my exhaust tips came through in the black ceramic as well.

The black exhaust on the jet black car looks awesome.

Just detailed it today with the Adams products. I have about 10k miles.... had a few minor surface scratches and marks. I started with clay, used the correcting polish, then the finishing polish and ended with a coat of the Patriot carnuba wax. The paint is absolutely flawless and looks better than the day it was delivered. The Adams stuff is the best I've ever used.

Great sound. Tip looks great but they are about 1/2 inches out to far. I know the picture doesn't do it any justice.

I think because it's a stock diffuser it looks like it's sticking out too far. if he had like a Vorsteiner, M5 or 3d i think it would be fine.
