A few new mods...Camera system, Laser Interceptor, Black Model Badge, Black Grill
Added a few small changes over the past couple of weeks.
Camera Sytem I am paranoid over street parking my car and do my best to avoid it. Last month, I street parked in Brookline, MA for approximately 5 minutes to run an errand. When I got back to the car, I discovered someone had smashed the rear bumper and driven off. I also spend a lot of time in the car and cover 35k+ miles in a year. These two factors prompted me to look for a "security" camera solution. The two cameras I liked most for this application are Pittasoft DR400G HD and iTronics ITB-100HD. I went for the iTronics HD camera over Pittasoft because of the way the camera looks. Both have similar features and resolution. I also added the Pittasoft Power Magic Pro which prevents excessive battery drain when the camera is operating in park mode. This feature allows the camera to turn on if the car is moved or bumped while the ignition is off. The camera records in a loop (up to 12 hrs depending upon SSD size) overwriting the oldest recordings. It also saves Events (impact, heavy acceleration, hard braking) in a separate folder that will not overwritten automatically. The cameras turn on even when the car is off if an impact or motion of the vehicle is detected. All video is also geotagged and displayed on a map in the viewing software. Laser Interceptor
I really like the Valentine One and Laser Interceptor combination. They have saved me dozens of times. The LI is very effective at jamming laser and I highly recommend it. I found a neat location for the LI on/off button.

Man, I wish we could use that in Europe. It is soooo illegal here! If you're caught using that stuff here you'll find yourself up shit creek with no paddles.

Black Model Badge
Ordered from Bimmian. Not much chrome on the car - the black badges work well with many of the other high gloss black accents.

Black OEM Grill
Here is the progression of the changes I made to the grill.
Stock 550 is chrome surround with silver slats First change was to 535 grill will chrome surround and black slats Now to OEM black performance grill. It gives to car a sportier and more aggressive look. My GF says it makes the car looks mean. Last edited by F10550xi; 05-14-2012 at 06:56 PM.. |

The front camera is located behind the right side of the rear view mirror. It is not visible from the drivers seat. The rear cam is mounted next to the brake light.

Love the whole setup. The camera and LI/radar mod is definitely undervalued and often overlooked. Looking to setup my valentine and LI as well.
