2015 550xi no power

started yesterday morning. My car literally feels like it has no power, almost as if the turbos are not spooling. I have a BMS tune on my car, I took it off earlier and unplugged the battery for 30 mins to let the ecu reset and its still happening. Any guesses??

Like I said, it literally feels like the turbos are not there. That slowly roll into the throttle at 3k rpm throw back in your seat feeling is not there. I even tried to launch it and it literally feel like I'm towing a boat. I know the "sport gauges" aren't accurate obviously but it barely reached 300hp and 400tq…..

Theres no CEL's or codes…….. If it continues i'll bring it to the dealer monday… Car only has 3,700mi

do you have a exhaust?

IF so check the vacuum lines that open and close the butterfly in the back. That does it.

Yeah its the worst feeling in the world lol. I took the jb4 off, reset the battery and its still happening. I just got my roof vinyld and on the 40min ride back home the "Drivetrain Malfunction" warning came up, so to the dealer it goes

my $80k car with 3700miles has drivetrain issues…… whatever guess thats the beauty of a warranty

This has happened to me a few times despite the car difference.. I just finished installing my FF wires days before and one day I started the car, drove it for a couple miles and the drivetrain malfunction light came on as well as a noticeable loss in power. It was as if the car the holding back a great deal, so I drove home and began my diagnosis. I ran the codes via USB from the DME and got a couple codes which wouldn't reset . I eventually traced the issue to wires which were not securely fastened. Ever since I tidied up the connections my problem went away. Double and triple check your jb4 connections.

Thanks for the insight and luckily you got yours fixed, but the JB on the 2014+ 550's is 2 simple plugs right into the MAF sensor. And the Malfunction light came on after driving 120miles after pulling the JB out and putting it to stock. Car is 3 months old, I'll let them sort it out I guess.

Another weird thing I noticed which has me believing its turbo related, is the slight turbo whistle you hear on a cold start that fades away as the rpm's drop is no longer there…. Hopefully its something simple

With the snow hitting NYC tomorrow I may not get it to the dealer till wednesday or thursday, but I will definitely report back on what they find.

UPDATE !!

Well I'm in shock, but I fixed it myself. I can't leave anything alone and the dealer is the last place I wanted my car. I did a muffler delete on my car and left the 2 vacuum lines just tucked up, not plugged or zip tied. I read up on here and a few were saying the lines could pick up dirt and what not and mess with the boost actuator in the trunk on the left side under the covers…. Well long story short, I blew the lines out and make sure the actuator was clean, then plugged both lines and tucked them up and after driving up the block I knew it was fixed. Boost was finally back and the Malfunction light turned off after a mile.

Its crazy that the car was fine for 2,700 miles without being plugged, but whatever theres miles of electronics and wiring on these cars… For anyone in the future experiencing this issue, CHECK THOSE LINES FIRST IF YOU HAVE AN AFTERMARKET EXHAUST!!

I put a small screw that fit snugly in there for both. Works great!
