Slow NAV system?

I feel that the NAV system ( 609 ) in my car is pretty slow. I rented a new X1 the other day, and that NAV system ( also 609 ) was much faster.

Example: changing scale takes about 3 -4 sec in my car - took 2s in the X1.

Update of software?

On zoom in/out I get about 2 secs delay which is still annoying, but is better than what you report. Which view are you talking about? Perspective? Sat images? Do you have POIs on? I assume any fancy features will slow it down. I'd suggest you switch to traffic view and see how it performs there (grey map, no POIs).

I normally use perspective/no POI´s.

I will check with the other view and see if there are any difference.

I noticed that too!

I would almost swear that BMW intentionally adds no-ops to the 5 series idrive system and even more to the 3 series.

Why? This gives the illusion that the higher end cars like the seven series have "better and faster" systems.

Thus a five series will seem to have a faster and more responsive idrive than the three series and so on.

A no-op is a wasted cpu cycle that does nothing but ends up slowing the entire system on purpose.

Not sure whether the X1 uses CIC or CCC, but I think the 7 uses the same CIC computer.
