This is getting out of hand. These "options" are pushing the prices of modern BMW's through the god damn "panorama" roof.
Safe to say that if you want a fully loaded BMW these days, you're going to add on 15-20-30 grand in options. No, that's not exaggerating. Ridiculous. I miss the good ole days of Premium/Sport/Cold Weather. That's it.

And this is considering it doesn't even have xDrive (YET) that should be another 2 grand to the price of the car.

I'm not suprised that they'll have these similar prices to the new 5 series sedan. For the new 5 series to start at 70k that would be ridiculous and for that kind of money you better of spending more for a porsche or mercedes.

that's insane.. well my parents are ordering a new 750.. and with everything they want it came out to 107k (20k more than base price! )... options are way too much these days.. especially stuff that should come with a car thats 87k

this is a niche car so you cant really hold it in the same respect as the coming 5'er.
....think of this as a cheaper more versitile 7 series. also, keeping in mind that this has the twin turbo V8 engine as its ONLY powerplant option (in the US) we can probably expect the the 550i/555i (or whatever they decide to call it) to be similiarly priced.

Okay, base price for the 550i her in Norway is approx 250000$, and if you what it fully loaded the options alone is about 60000$, so it will cost over 300000$ here, so I don't expect to see many of those here...
But I guess the 530d will sell much better, that's only 200000$ loaded.

It'll sell. I love when people say no one will ever buy this or that. Of course people will buy it. Looks are subjective. The interior or that thing is amazing and it's got a beast of an engine.

My only criticism is the absurdity of keep charging $400 for the iPod/USB adapter and $350 for Sirius in a $64000 car... those should be standard in all BMW's. The rest is whatever...

For example, the new 550i will have a 400hp TT V8 @ ~$70k Back in the day an E39 M5 would give you about the same performance for the same price... The pricing is ridiculous, but seems fair.

And the car is getting bigger, safer, have much better technology, are more efficient, comfortable, use greener materials for when the car needs to be crushed In other words... better in everyway way (design is based on individual... i'm talking about technology and craftsman ship here) Account for inflation and technically every year we're getting better cars for "less" 80k loaded for a "5-series" is pretty ridiculous though... but it is what it is. If you find that funny how about 90k+ for a "E-Class" AMG? That was the price of a nicely optioned S500 back in the day! How about M3's? E36's were $40k!! |
