Transporting a dog

My wife is moving from an X5 to a 535 soon and I was wondering what you think is the best way to transport a 90 pound lab in the 5er's rear seat. It appears choices range from harnesses, pet hammocks, and pet tubes. We don't transport her very often (maybe 4-5 times a year across town), so I'm not really looking for anything extravagant or very expensive.

I have a large German Shepard. When I need to take him with me in the car I use two of those thick green wool army blankets. I cover the back seat with one (covers the seat and seat back), and I cover the back of the front seats with the other one.

The blankets are thick enough to where his claws don't make it to the leather when he stands.

However if your lab likes to paw at things, you may want to cover your doors as well. Hans usually just sits on the seat and looks forward so I don't have that issue.

Having a F11 and not being particularly found of dogs, I would just have put her in the trunk.

That is sad. Hate to hear that. I saw this product and it is a little more than I want to spend for as little as we'd use it. Thanks for the replies.

You can also get some generic ones that work the same way, from Amazon. I never tried these myself, but was looking into it as the BMW version is quite expensive.

Up? I think the X5 and the 535 are equals. After owning both I would say; stick with the X5. 5er isnt really dog friendly.

Not sure where you got that there was any comparisons between the two in this thread? At any rate, the 5er is on its way and the X5 will soon be gone. It's the wife's car and that's what she wanted to do.
