New 535i --

Okay, this is going to probably sound like a very stupid question lol but, I've owned a 128i, X3 and now the 535i & I have never had so much trouble parking a car, the way I do with this one..
Did anyone ever have issues at first? I'm hoping that it's something I get used to. Oh and I also hit a curb from the front bumper (it's not really noticeable)

Thanks!

I know how you feel! I have a 750Li and pride myself on being a great driver (and parker - parallel or otherwise). I've had several other large vehicles; S500, Range Rover, LX470, Denali, Suburban and have never had as much difficulty as with the dimensions / proportions of the 750Li - even with Top View! I believe it's a combination of the terribly poor turning radius, exceedingly long wheel base (not necessarily the overall length) and the high trunk / rear (you can't see anything out the rear window, except straight back). Not sure why it had to be like this, but it does take some adjusting...

There is a reason IAS is an option

My friends are always amazed the turning radius of the F06 (which is even larger than the F10) with the IAS

IAS is the key! Unfortunately not available with x-drive.

My previous F10 didn't have IAS but with top view I could get it parked almost everywhere.

Despite the size of the vehicle, the reversing camera with the guide lines turned on makes the F10 easy to reverse park

yes, does I'm in a loaner and without the camera it's a pain. If you set your mirrors up correctly you can see the lines when you are backing up. My suburban is much easier to back into a parking space.

With the rear view camera and the parking sensors, I can almost parallel park my F10 in the frist try everytime, given that the space is not too tight. So, I would say that the F10 is a very easy car to park.
The OP being use to parking a 1 series might need to get use to parking a bigger car like the F10.

These cars should not require IAS to park with ease. IAS is definitely compensating for a weak design that has led to a poor turning radius, whereas Mercedes somehow achieve fantastic turning radius'.

Definitely agree with the Suburban comment(!), however, but don't understand why the 5 or 7 can't be as easy…

Yeah, I got a 535i with the ///M sport package, and rear view camera with parking sensors, a real shame it didn't have the side view cameras, like the X3.. I'm just gonna make myself think that I was used to the assistance and I'll just have to get used to parking right lol

Totally agree, but when I drive my other vehicles I get a bit confused.

The long nose and the low profile of the f10 make it a bit harder to park than some. Plus, its pretty damn wide. All great attributes for driving, but for parking...not so much. I generally have no trouble parallel parking, but the normal side by side parking spaces can be a bit more challenging.

Exactly. Those beautiful proportions, wide stance and gorgeously exaggeratedly long hood make for terrible parking functionality.

Having the parking sensors and rear view cameras have really saved me in some instances in this car. Hopefully they keep doing so.

You'll get used to it, but it never gets better. The F10 is a pain in the ass to maneuver in even not-so-tight spaces like underground garages etc. It is the one thing I dislike most about my F10. It turns like a boat!

Haha, it does feel like a boat sometimes, but it's a gorgeous car!
