You own the trunk now right? check it out!

US Spec cars only come with a small-tool-kit (screwdriver, front-end-tow-hook).

BMW sells two different safety triangles. Reports are the US DOT-spec triangle is too big to fit the built-in trunk compartment. There might be somewhere you can buy the euro-spec triangle that should fit the trunk-lid compartment. Personally, I prefer a flare kit.

BMW sells a first-aid kit that fits the trunk-lid compartment.

BMW sells a mobility kit with tire-sealant and an air-compressor. They list it as not for use with run-flat tires, but the continential ContiComfortKit is basically the same thing and is listed as being usable on RFTs. Of course the Continental kit is cheaper.

You can also buy some of this stuff on Amazon, if you prefer that..

* bmw trunk first aid kit
* bmw mobility kit
* bmw safety triangle, bmw lighted triangle, AAA flat folding safety triangle, or orion flare kit

My e46 had about 6-10 tools and my new F10 only has a screwdriver and tow attachment, while the rest of the "tool box" is empty. I guess every $ in cost savings counts

Blame our government for not having the safety triangle or the first aid kit. The US DOT does not think that the Triangle is proper for some stupid reason (German standards are most likely more stringent) so who knows why. And the first aid kit probably contains a cream for cuts that is only sold by prescription in the US.

If you do try to buy a Triangle, make sure you have the correct part number. Most all those I have seen in the US WILL NOT FIT in the trunk lid container. The first aid kit is oblong with the center cut out, the one refernce and link look to be correct.

I couldn't stand having an empty contatiner so was lucky enough to score a set from someone I know that lived in England. I may never use either, but at least they are there.

Yet another reason to consider European Delivery: BMW delivers the car in Germany with the locally required equipment, which includes the triangle and the first aid kit.
