What model are you looking at, got almost 7k off a 528i with all except Premium Audio. Got the security package with Blind Spot and Lane departure and hope this will also come with Collision warning. Could only find a White one in Eastern Canada, not my preferred color but will live with it.

If you have navigation and premium package think I would like the 535i much better for about the same price as I'm supposed to get for the 528i. |

I purchased a 2013 528i xdrive last month in the us for almost 10k under sticker. That was my deciding factor.

The dealer closest to me just rejected $64,500 - waiting for him to come back with something (hopefully close). Then just have to get opinions on possible tramlining behaviour with the M Sport ties, then I'm good to go.

You have a lot of tram lines up there, don't you? Have you driven the car? I would think with its all-season, all-the-same-size tires (unlike my RWD car with summer tires) and no sport suspension you would get pretty comfortable steering behavior. I've noticed a much reduced amount of tram lining in my 528i compared to the E92 (also RWD, also with staggered summer tires) I traded.

My 2013 535xi (with stock 19" M-sport wheels and RFTs) does not tram-line, nor pull to the right like some others have observed.

I have an invoice deal on a car at a dealership in the west, but they are adding on $400.00 to the PDI and $445 as an admin fee for who knows what (detailing the car/waxing). I thought that was part of the PDI, but they say not. So, I'm a bit pissed about extra $900.00 - but I said "what the heck" to myself and thought, I'll do it if they install the BMW trickle charger. He says it costs him money and he won't go in the red on the deal. I'd asked him from the beginning not to include any extra fees in the deal, but he says the other departments charge him and it is part if his cost. I hope it's worth it to him because if I get a better price on my second choice colour on Monday, this guy will have blown a deal over $277.00. I still have to install a car seat in the rear to make sure my 4 year old has room for his feet. I saw a F10 at the movie theatre tonight and looked at the back seat and it looked like there was only about 10" between the rear seat cushion edge and the back if the front seat. Maybe the front seats were really far back? OK, I'm getting off the tram lining topic. |

One more thing to consider - check to see if your potential 2013 535xi has the adaptive drive package, which includes both the dynamic damping and the active roll stabilization. I find this electronic wizardry (especially the ARS) dramatically improves the cornering and handling of the car. Without it, as many others have noticed, the handling is comfortable but not as sporting. As you no doubt have noticed, many have stated that the 2014 LCI with the M-suspension is a big improvement as well. My point here - you might be disappointed if the 2013 535xi does not have the adaptive suspension. Good luck!

If I build a 2014 exactly the way I want it, it will retail north of $82,000 in Canada and I'm very close to a $65,500 - deal out the door (plus taxes), on a 2013 and a .9% lease rate (if I choose to lease), although I'm missing a few options. The car does have active dampers, but is missing the roll stabilization (sadly). |

Yeah - bummer on availability of adaptive drive and in particular the ARS on a 528. I custom-ordered my 2013 5-series from the factory, as, like you, my previous 5-series was an E39 (2000 528i to be precise), and I wanted to replicate its handling characteristics with what was available in a new 5 series. Yep - tracking all your points on availability of LCI 704 M-suspension and xDrive in Canada - I had that mental exercise / balancing act about a year ago when what I really wanted was a 535i without the 'x' but with the m-sport suspension like my old 528i with no electronic suspension (like our America friends can now get with the LCI on a 535i). As it turns out, I'm quite happy now with the 'x' and the high-tech suspension. Cheers.

Test drove a 2013 M Sport today. I was very happy with it. If I was ordering a 2014 I'd skip the Tech packages and get Adaptive Drive to improve the handling but the dealer didn't have anything with AD for me to try saying they seldom get one in and didn't have a 2014 with one either.
I can't make a case for a 2014. Even with the LCI changes adding some content, the cars are $8,000 apart plus the higher lease rate. I'll be getting a 2013. I just have to decide between AW, Titanium Silver and Space Gray. All have black interiors with Anthracite trim. Any colour votes? |

I'm leaning towards white as my first choice or silver. I haven't seen Space Gray on this car, but though it looked a bit drab on some other BMW cars that have it. I currently have my choice of colour. Hoping to make my mind up by the end of the week.

^ silver gets my vote. I had T.S. for my last 550 and 535. It's a lazy man's car ... that's little washing and dirt (esp. winter time) does not show as bad as in darker color car.

I agree, but we've had 4 silver cars in a row. Of course, all of this means nothing if my 4 year old and 7 year old don't have any leg room in the rear seat while sitting in their car seats. The salesman said they will fit, but it looks tight to me. The next step is to take a kid and a car seat t the dealer to make sure. If I can't fit them in the back, I might as well be driving a 911, which I won't be getting.

Did a test drive today with my 6 year old daughter behind the drivers seat. She has about 2" in front of her toes with shoes on (less with boots). She will sit behind my wife who sits more forward so she'll gain some toe room. My 4 year old son will sit behind me.
The local dealer gave me a 2014 M Sport for the test. I like the new steering wheel and decided that HUD is cool but not a necessary option. If I could pick one option (in addition to premium) it would be adaptive drive. The car handles well without it but you can feel the weight of the car through the turns. A flatter car would be much better. I can't say I noticed a big difference in steering feel from the 2013 I drove on Monday. The dealer general manager finally called me back and apologized for his team not getting back to me earlier. He said he would try and get me the '13 I want (I doubt the dealer will give it up knowing I want it). If he can't he'll quote a '14 (which I think will be way more than I want to spend - 13's are such a good deal right now). Hopefully I wrap this up in the next day or so. |
