Driving position and height of steering wheel
Let's talk driving position. In all my recent cars I've preferred to tilt the steering wheel as low as possible, and telescope as needed. It just feels much more comfortable and the wheel any higher makes me feel like im driving a bus. Until the F10, I haven't had a problem of seeing the gauge cluster. Here, the wheel cuts right through the top of the gauges. Either this was a non issue with my other cars or was less intrusive.
Anyone else like to drive their F10 with the wheel at lowest position? Do you find the obstruction of the gauges a real problem? |

I'm exactly opposite of you in terms of setting it up, and fully agree with Jeremy Clarkson:
"And when it comes to finding fault? My God, you have to be picky. In the 5-series, I’m reduced to complaining that if I set the steering wheel where I like it, fully back and as high as possible, I can’t see the “range” read-out on the dash." |

I also like the steering wheel at it's lowest position. While it does somewhat block the speedo, that is taken care of by the HUD. Never knew how much I would appreciate the HUD until I got it.

As far as the steering wheel blocking the cluster, it does bother me a bit. But my problem is the steering wheel blocking the top of the speedo if I put the steering wheel facing directly across instead of up or down. So I actually have to raise it a little just to see the whole cluster. But I have HUD so it doesn't really bother me that much since I hardly look down. |

Had HUD in a recent X5 loaner and it was nice. But I kept driving the speed limit because it was always shown on the screen, maybe a good thing I suppose but I'd rather not know

Reading the comments, I'm glad I'm a driver who sets up my driving position using recommended criteria. Therefore seeing the full instrument panel is not an issue. Everything is visible, including the auto wiper LED.
I suppose if we choose to deviate from an optimum "driving" position, we are bound to have some issue with instrumentation. HighlandPete |

I'm 5ft 10 and I set my seat at its highest position and the steering wheel is moved down but just a few millimetres. in that position the top of the dials are just slightly out of sight and that includes the indicators. I have a HUD so that sorts out the speedo and I've coded the HUD to show the indicators to get round that issue as well.

Unless you are very short or have your seat at it lowest point I don't see how you can have the steering wheel so low without your knees constantly hitting it. Guess I'm the complete opposite as my steering wheel is near its highest point.
The top of my steering wheel aligns perfectly with the top of the instrument cluster and acts as a "window" making all of the gauges visible. |

Being 5'9", I drive with the steering and the seats in the lowest and most relaxed position.
Though it compromises on the visibility, have got used to it. Like the comments above the F10 has quite a large front seat real estate compared to its competition. |

For safety purposes you should be able to place your four fingers off your leg and not touch the steering wheel. This is used in the case where you need to perform an emergency hard turn and your leg does not block your hand.
