Bluetooth Slow to Start Calls

I have noticed recently that the bluetooth in the car will show the call being received, and when you either select "pickup" via the iDrive controller or the steering wheel there is about a 3 second delay for the call to actually start. When this happens, the person on the other end of the phone can instantly hear me, but I can't hear them or talk to them until this delay is over. Anyone else have this? This is extremely annoying!!

I think you answered the question yourself. Some phones are, some are not.

No problem here with iPhone 7. I'd recommend removing your phone from iDrive and re-connecting it. I'd recommend the typical "have you tried turning off and on" theory.

CIC or NBT?

check your Nav firmware version. In the Nav About screen it will show near bottom like this

NBT_M.

IPhone 6S and no noticeable delays.

Slightly OT: Does anyone know how (or if) you can accept incoming calls using steering wheel controls?

Doesn't work for me, that seems to only End calls. Only way I've found to answer them is to accept using iDrive knob :

The navigation version in my car is NBT_MO16552. I forgot to mention, I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 10.2.1. In my wife's 328, the calls pickup instantly on both my phone and her phone. Even her phone in my car is slow, when picking up the calls via steering wheel button or iDrive controller. I am going to remove the phone and re-pair tomorrow morning and see what happens.

Yes mine actually does the same thing. A few seconds from pressing the accept button with I drive or using the steering wheel. Iphone7 256gb running iOS 10.2.1 as well. Will delete and re-pair to see as well.
