Car is totally dead.

Got into my 2012 535 this morning and it would not start. Inside lights are very dim. Waiting to get it towed. Has anyone had this issue?

Yeah. Sounds like a dead battery. That's strange on such a new car though. When was the last time you drove it?

yeh not right.
For refence my car generally doesn't see any use during the week and is only used at weekends and no issues and to be honest I'd not expect any.
I've also not driven it for 2 weeks without any issue.
Something obviosuly causing a drain , finding that might be difficult but the obvious to check that the interior lights are not on and you have nothing plugged in. Thats the limit of my expertise!

Some F10 have battery issues. Dealers are aware of this but the fix is not available yet. Some electronic systems on the car keep draining the battery - hence the flat battery.

My dealer said that the fix is due in 6-8 weeks.

I had this issue when I did not drive long distance for weeks. The batteries are charged with F1 KERS like system and if you don't drive adequate distance/brake, the batteries may drain especially if you leave a small light on (the middle console if left slightly open, the light will remain on).

That explains. I drove it the day before and I am sure I didn't leave anything on. The car is at the dealership but they haven't looked at it yet.

Get a ctek smart charger. I spliced its quick snap connetion onto my terminals and leave it on winter cycle so all I have to do is pop the trunk and plug it in to the charger in my garage when the car is sitting for a while

I drive mine only on the weekends as well, however I use a battery tender on the days it's not driven. So, I connect it on Sunday night and remove it on Friday night or Saturday morning.

I've left my car for over 3 weeks in my garage and it has started perfectly every single time.

Make sure you DON'T leave the keys inside. That's a sure way to drain the battery.
