You're really lucky in the US regarding prices for BMWs. Check out price lists in Europe or other countries....

Great Mod linhperfume !
Why? Do you really need to ask this question? Because it's not the M5! It's a 528/530 disguised as the M5. Those who see it will be deceived into thinking it's the real thing when it's not.

It's not about the money - it's about it being fake. He should've bought the M Sport Package. That is an accessory designed for the F10 non-M5. What he did was diminish the value of the M brand by putting lipstick on a pig.

And yes, I know that BMW cars are expensive around the world. I used to live in Europe. But I earned enough money to drive whatever I wanted in both the UK and Germany, and didn't need to resort to making my car something it wasn't.
Haha!!! Yeah, u think u are good as u can earned enough money to buy any cars u like in both UK and Germany. Try living in Asia countries.. Come to my country in Malaysia, or even worst, Singapore. I bet u will be whining Why the fuck is the car so freaking expensive. If u hvnt live in country where car cost a bomb and yet u can afford it. Shhh.. And enjoy the mod.

Great job Linh!

Car looks clean.

Just ignore the haters, there's lots of them here in the states, dime a dozen with their never ending 2cents. Maybe someday they'll get so frustrated and hang themselves, because they saw a fake M5 on the interwebz.

Ha. Nice job with YOUR car man. "Your" being the keyword in that sentence.

give the guy a break, it's his car, he can do whatever he wants to it. It was tastefully done. May not be your cup of tea but some atleast its good to know people other than Europeans and Americans can reach this level of modifications.

Yeah it's no M5, but at least he doesn't have to worry about the oil pump recalls!

Seriously though, ignore the haters. Do what makes you happy, not what makes other people happy. And if Linhperfume wanted to buy a M5, I'm sure he could in the US, considering a 5 series is 100k USD in Asia, right?

Great looking car btw! Keep it up.

Neither do I. My car wasn't affected.

I said I respected the time, cost, and effort that went into the mod. And I respect his business and that he can afford to do these mods. Yes, it's his car. If he is happy that's what counts. I wouldn't be happy driving a fake. Clearly he's done it for the attention - look at the pictures! He even left the M5 badging intact on the side grilles.

What really bothers me is that no one seems to remember that this is a public forum and by uploading pictures he's opening himself up to criticism - both good and bad. I'm not hating - I'm offering my opinion. And it really irks me that other BMW drivers support this kind of thing.

You've got to pay to play in my book. Watches, cars, etc. How would Mr. Linh feel if someone started selling knock off cologne and perfume that affected his business' profits?

There might be different views on modifications like this. But, IMHO we should all try to use a language when we write our views that we also would use if we were talking to that person face to face. I know the internet doesn't always work like that, but there are different ways of getting our message across. If we actually want the receiver to listen, it's rarely useful to wind him up with the words we chose...

UK and Germany has little or no taxation on a new car, so not a big deal to buy a M5 there.

In Germany a new M5 starts at USD 132.000. As an example you would have to pay the same starting price as that for a 530i Touring in Norway. The M5 starts at USD 320.000in Norway... The M5 is therefor available to a very different group of people in the US, UK, Germany and many other countries than it is in countries with high taxation.

Thanks for this. It's sad how language degrades when someone is hiding behind a computer screen. I certainly wouldn't tell someone to hang themselves during a face-to-face conversation. I don't expect this level of immaturity from BMW drivers.

I'm not familiar with taxation in other countries. Why is it so high? Seems ridiculous to me. People in the US complain that cars are already expensive. Unfortunately for us that also means a lot of brands strip their cars of features that are available in Europe to lower costs. (Or they're afraid of litigation.) We also have silly regulations, like different headlight beam patterns and amber reflectors that spoil the look of most modern cars.

I appreciate someone aspiring to have something they cannot attain for whatever reason, like outrageous taxes. But for those that do have something it diminishes/cheapens the privilege. I liken it to watches. I've saved and purchased some nice watches over the years. When I see someone buying a fake Rolex or other brand I get upset. They get the "cachet" of wearing it without actually having supported the brand. It's unfair. I spent thousands, you spent a hundred. Why should you get the same "respect" that I do?

It's the same with cars. I've seen pictures online of people converting Civics to Bugattis, Saturns to Ferraris, etc. It's a cheap way to get the look of something without actually paying for it.

Sadly though nobody will bother reading this and will continue flaming me for having an opinion.

Not only in the states, haters everywhere but who cares.

It's my friend/customer's car and it's my new business .

All parts are OEM, made in Germany by BMW.

I, myself wanted a 2013 F10 M5 too. but later I ordered something cheaper, a 2013 640i Gran Coupe, which is the same price as a 2013 M5 PLUS a 2013 M6 in the states.

PS- Sick Wheels!

Cars look fantastic Linh - great job at bringing a new scene to a market that just hasn't seen these kinds of builds/projects before. Continue to innovate,

Cheers

Ah. I thought it was your car. Good luck with the new business. The GC is beautiful. And overpriced. Everywhere.

the car has

- Morr VS8.2 brushed Gunmetal 20" with Pirelli P Zero tires (about $7000 shipped & taxed)
KW Suspension V2 ($2k+ shipped)
Eisenmann Race Exhaust ($2k+ shipped)
M5 conversion kit ($5k+ shipped)
3M matte Orange wrapped ($750 + labor cost, there it's $2000 for that job, right?)

just do some math, it's not like spent a hundred to get the same respect as thousands

Good points and well put.

The US Hot Rod culture started after US soldiers had been in europe and seen the (mostly english) sports cars that was light weight and fun to drive. When they came home they wanted to get that same performance, but did'nt have the money to buy european (british) sports cars. The solution was to start modifying what was plentiful in the US, the T-Ford, to get the looks and performance the way they wanted.

Making a F10 look like a M5 obviously isn't the exact same thing as that, but I guess modifying will always be part of the automobile culture.

You can also get replica M5 front bumpers that fits the std. F10 front fenders. Maybe thats a more acceptable mod? At least it differs from the real M5 in that it doesn't have the fenders with the grilles on them...
