If they keep the warranty if the work is done in Norway,but not in Germany, I would contact BMW in München. I cant imagine they will accept this.

Munich is not giving you 5 years, its the norwegian distributor. With the kit I am syre you get the standard euro two years.

I called BMW Norway today and had it confirmed that it was OK to have it fitted in Germany. I didn't ask to have it on paper or anything. Anybody should do their own research and not take my word for it, but personally I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry for interfering in the F10/11 forum guys, but this is good news for the 120d F20 I am picking up on Thursday! Same engine, same kit.

Since HP in a way is a mathematically result of torque and rpm the problem here is the lack of torque in the upper rpm area.

To avoid the HP to increase abouve 163 Hp the torque curve is reduced at an earlier point than with the 184 HP version.

That is why our 163 HP version feels week at high speed and high rpms.

With the tuning kit you will keep the torque much longer in the rpm range. As a result the HP will be much higher in the upper part of the range.

I did not use a gps, but on the speedometer it was a little under 220, now about 230. But its alot quicker above 200 now.

Your figures are very similar to my standard 520D with sports automatic.
I get:
110-140: 6 sec
110-160: 11,5 sec
110-180: 19,5 sec

It seems it makes most difference at speed.
I will try 110-200 and 210 tomorrow.

Finally its arrived in the UK. Called up my local dealer and was quoted £1238 for the kit fitted (for the 520d auto). The kit on its own is £967 excluding the fitting and software updating. I was told the kit would include:

DDE Control Unit
Lower air guide
Intercooler
Software Update

I have 18 months left on my lease, then I am planning to purchase the car. Given this relative short duration, I think I will wait and simply purchase an after market box, as I will be past the warranty period. At approximately £350 versus £1,238 (as per MalithS quote), I can't justify the cost.

I'll go for one of the fairly tame boxes (200 to 220ps range), as I do not want to stress the car.

That said: I'd also be keen, MalithS, to hear your experience, if you go for the kit.

It says that maximum torque depends of chosen gear.
The 120dA is almost 1 sec faster 0-100 after tuning, and close to 3 sec faster from 0-140. U feel the difference from the first meter. A totalt changed car.

I am planning in a few months, when my car turns 2 years and the warranty by bmw is expired, to let modify the ecu of my 520d from 184hp/380nm to 215hp/430nm by a well reputed car tuner here in my neighborhood (take a look at his website: www.autotuneheinz.be). Since the M performance package is twice the price for half the performance, I prefer this. Are there any arguments not to do this , since warranty will be expired anyway ?
I'm planning to sell this 520d when it has about 200.000km (when it's about 4-5 years old).

This I do not know. In Italy BMW gives 4 years of warranty thus is worth spending few euros more to have an original performance kit.
