Trunk/Boot Soft Open Problem- Any Ideas?
Hello, first time poster on the forum here. I have recently developed a strange problem with my trunk/boot in that once its opened the gas struts dont seem to be slowing it down , rather it opens very fast. It knocks once it reaches the top opening height . I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or infomration that i can refer to my local Bmw dealer. Many thanks in advance .
I have made a small video which highlights the problem : |

F10 doesnt use the old type of gas struts.
Its a set of springs and a damper. Obviously either one or more of the springs are failing or have come loose or the damper has a fault

Ok thanks . So do you guys think that a damper replacement is do-able myself is it it worth just going through the warranty , Assuming they dont say its my fault somehow .
