Opinions on high mileage N55

What are you opinions on a high mileage n55 2014 535i rwd. It has 156K mileage checked the Carfax it always been dealer serviced until now. I had a 528i 2014 I bought for $40k 2015 and totaled it in 2020 insurance gave me 16.2k. I really like the f10s and now have a n55 f15. I saw this opportunity to get another one for less than 10 grand and it's one owner. Just looking for feedback on the motors mileage. I've heard n55 can reach 300K according fourm members. What should I be expecting? Dealer also just replaced coils and plugs last month due to cylinder 4 misfire.

I think an important question is do you do your own repairs/maintenance? Another would be whether that is highway miles, or red light to red light miles.

Just for grins, check the oil in the transfer case or the transmission. Odds are it is original. If so, I would run. The BWM 'lifetime' fluids break down like any other, BMW just doesn't want to add these items to the service schedule.

Good luck.

Got lucky I checked it out. The engine sounded toast. Called the dealer about the sparkplug changed recently they stated that 5 days after that the engine got locked up and had vanos codes aswell. The seller tried to trick me into thinking it was mint. "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" Lost a couple hundred in gas and $300 for transportation truck but better than losing the whole $9K.

Bad apple. 150k is still nothing for a well maintained N55.

I'm over 160k with my N55. Maintenance is key!
