I think I narrowed it finally to a 550xi BUT
I'm thinkin overall for out of the hole performance and winter driving....because lets face it, the C63 I test drove today is a fawking beast...but you can't winter that car even with winters on it...
so, in steps the nicer 550xi ...tune that baby up and i'll be up around M5 territory... question is as seen from one of the commenters, that a RWD would eat the M...clearly that's dumb, but how much weight and loss does the XI set the 550 back? Clearly not much here...look at that LAUNCH... Happy NEW YEAR! |

the XI's have the best times on the board by a good measure. Lots of threads about them in the Engine/Exhaust mods section of the forum.
Man that thing smoked the AMG lol. I wonder about the driver though. That's supposed to be a 3.7 sec car!

The 550xi and 550i destroy the C63.
However, no matter how you tune a 550 or 550xi, it will never be an M5 or even come close. I have a JB4 S2 on my 550 and test drove a M5. The M5 is hands down better. Yeah the 550xi is slightly faster out of the pocket, but once you hit 50-60, the M5 just goes guns blazing because it can put down the power without any traction loss. Raced an M5, we both have rwd. He smoked me. Granted he had launch control, but even without it, he'd have gone to town on me. 550xi is a serious contender to the M5 at low speeds, but overall, the M5 is faster.

DO NOT get a 2011. I own one and it just got called in a for a huge engine recall. The 2011 has a lot of problems as it was the first F10. Get a CPOed 2012 or 2013. I assume you're in Canada, is it possible to come to the states and buy a car and take it up? Under $45k USD, you can get a 2013 550i without sport package or a decently equipped 2012 550i w/ M Sport Package.

Hey buddy! Check out my posts and threads and you will see what a Real 550xi should sound and drive like. P.s my car makes more torque then any M5/M6 with comparable mods

Launch Control will put a big smile on your face
I did straight pipes on and some open heart surgery to my mufflers and this thing sounds like a true V8 |

I have one and thus far its been fine. Its not a recall, it a service bulletin. IMO, BMW finally recognized the issue with 2011-13 N63 motors and is correcting it. I believe this is a good thing for the longevity of the vehicle. But again, just my opinion sir.
